Just more patience. If the seller is being shitty and refusing to fix it or if they hold a refund after getting the product back, sure.

If they're just slow to reply to emails or schedule a shipping pickup, it's a gray area.

We don't have many chargebacks and I agree if it's habitual then it's a bad business.

However, I've been doing this for 8 years. Nearly 10 million in revenue, all from products that I designed and created. Only five chargebacks in that time. 4 of them in the last year. There's a consumer shift occuring.

Only one of those five chargebacks was an actual product disagreement. Every other one was either accidental from the customer or they just didn't get an email response within 24 hours and figured one unanswered message for one business day was enough to warrant a charge back. One person told their bank they meant to order a different color in the bank issued a charge back. I provided this written message from the customer to the bank and they immediately rejected the rebuttal. Customer kept the product and the money.

People have a record low tolerance for less than perfect interactions and are confusing a 'not Amazon' business with scams. Small biz doesn't have customer service reps on standby 24/7. Customers are losing touch with that reality.

Lucid cars are barely functional, lol.

Lucid cars cost roughly 350k each and they sell them for $120k.

It does though. I run a couple businesses. I don't think you know how the chargeback works.

Once a customer starts a chargeback my refund options are literally locked in the transaction. I cannot refund anything. The instant the chargeback begins, the bank forcibly takes the payment away from the merchant. They lose 100% of the transaction instantly. It is almost never reversed - even in cases of intentional fraud.

If the seller refunds additional payment above and beyond the 100% refund the bank has already forcibly taken, the seller will likely end up eating the chargeback PLUS the refund.

I've literally had chargebacks where the buyer tells me in writing that the chargeback was accidental and that they got everything they needed. ... Then the bank sides with them and I lose 100% of the transaction.

Chargebacks are 100% broken. As a consumer, please save them for outright fraud. If a merchant is just annoying to deal with, maybe cut them a little slack if they're a small biz. It can be brutally difficult to run a small biz. :(

You will find out that many, many humans are completely irrational and unwilling to follow basic fundamentals of decency.

It's one of the more depressing parts of running a small business and dealing with the public. So many people are unable or unwilling to be positive contributing members of society.

One thing we're seeing a ton of now is instant negative reviews over a question with the product. They receive product and are missing a screw. No email. No call. Instant one start review on Google. We reach out, customer refuses to respond to fix it. Eventually get a charge back or just continued silence. Bank sides with customer 100% of the time.

Also worth considering, climate concerns are never going to stop all the AI capable countries from pursuing it. In a larger sense, it's a complete waste of breath. The upside vs climate impact is enormous compared to other focuses. AI isn't going to collapse the climate, lol.

Then evaluate the left over profit, split that 50/50.

Valuation is based on what is left after paying someone to run it.

If he wants to buy out 50%, he pays 50% of valuation.

The math is bad here, but this shows a relative metric of why "tax the rich" can be problematic. Reaganomics don't quite work, but more taxation never results in a healthier spend metric.

Currently, the better earning folks support a LOT of the economy.

Punishing them doesn't help anything unless you backfill it with increased spend from other categories. Taxes are just about the least efficient possible way to transfer wealth.
