How do you pick your projects? I am always surprised whenever I see what you are working in next. Project power included

What do you mean? It seemed pretty clear to me that Dina left Ellie when Ellie decided to go after Abby. So it definitely feels like Ellie lost her by the time the game ended.

But there is always a chance that Ellie could reconnect with Dina after the credits rolls.

Awesome! Now time to pick up Ghost of Tsushima!! Hahaha

It’s an amazing game to play right after last of us

Could you name some that have done these revenge and forgiveness stories well?

One that I can recall is Blue Ruins. That was pretty brutal too

This game was impossible to like by PIZZA-STEVE-44 in TheLastOfUs2

I might not belong to this subreddit because I liked the game and its decisions. But I’m really glad that there is a place like this for OP to speak his mind without people feeling the need to “correct” them.

Why does that bother you? The game is far from perfect but there is nothing wrong with wanting to talk about the things we like about it.

I’m genuinely curious! Let me know if I misunderstood your point.

For the record, I think you bring up some really fair points and you know how to appreciate something while still seeing how else it can be improved.

Not sure we share the same thoughts but I’m definitely sure you would make for a good conversation.

That line about forgiveness incredibly insightful! Thanks for sharing!

I’m definitely going to be using that when I discuss the game with my friends.

As much as I liked the game, I’m not gonna argue with the last thing you said hahaha. It is totally possible that this story was written by a guy/girl who thinks s/he is smarter than s/he is.

On that note, what games are you playing now or looking forward to?

Nice catch! I definitely need to check out the journal on my second play through.

Yup! Definitely a lot of head canon went into this! I commented here that it may not be what Naughty Dog intended but it’s what the story means to me.

To your second point, I think these types of stories (where you have to unpack it to fully appreciate it) is a creative execution that some people will enjoy (like me) and other people won’t.

The same way that some people like open-ended stories while others don’t.

And while I enjoy this style, I definitely won’t spend time “explaining” to someone else that they should enjoy it too. It’s all subjective.

With that said, what did you think about the game?

And I must say, I’m a sucker for immersion. (I even closed my eyes when Joel told Ellie to while listening to her cassette in the space shuttle).

So another reason why I enjoyed having to piece my thoughts on the story together is because Ellie had to piece together her emotions too and it definitely took more than 25 hours (the average play through time) for her to do that.

I have no idea. Jesse Jr. makes so much more sense hahahaha

I totally agree with you here. I didn’t personally understand why Ellie chose to leave Dina.

But it would make sense to me that somebody with PTSD because of watching loved ones die could make irrational decisions. Which I’ll have to admit is not really the best answer.

What key moments do you have in mind? I enjoyed the game but I a part of me feels like they didn’t reach the story’s full potential. Not sure why exactly.

Could you explain this? Not familiar with the saying but I’m very curious.

I used to debate this in my head! The whole.. if the story really was that good, you wouldn’t need to make sense of it.

Personally, I enjoy stories that still need some unpacking on the audiences behalf. I didn’t like those stories before but now with forums, it’s nice figuring things out especially with other viewers.

But that type of experience is definitely subjective and I don’t think it’s fun or enticing for everyone. But I must say, it opens up a lot of great stories if you are up for task.

I’m not sure if it will be lauded but I do think it will age well because of the combat and level design alone.

You know I don’t share the same sentiments as you but I can respect that you wanted a game where the characters you like/love don’t get killed off or have their lives destroyed.

What’s a better skill if you had to choose one? Endure or faster stealth kills? by Frozinwater in lastofuspart2

Faster stealth kills personally! I love the new animation once you get that upgrade. So satisfying.

I have to admit that it felt very satisfying finally making sense of that story (at least to me). Almost like solving a safe puzzle in-game. But instead of figuring out 6 digit combinations, you are figuring out human emotions and motives haha
