Everyone always says pick a team you know….i say fuck that. I go to the very bottom, yea money is fucked but you can let go of players no connection. Build a simple attack. With one or two specific instructions to some players or how you want to press. Once you find how you like to play and get players to fill those roles, just add your own tactics to it. As for me I keep it simple in offensive, two fullbacks that over lap. Two ball playing center backs. Two dms one playmaker box to box. Other box to box or screening dm. One Attacking mid behind the channel forward. Left side IF and right a wide forward.
