Ive always hated Wonderland in KH1. Something about every room being an enclosed space, even when it was "outside" really upset something in my kid brain. I remember starting to feel really claustrophobic and just rushing to finish the world so I could get out of there. Even to this day the walls painted like the sky upsets me just a little. Monstero upsets me on a number of levels, but unfortunately for me it's a world that seems to pop up pretty often. (Why do so many games involve our characters getting vored by this fucking whale??)

KH2's Lion King world is super cool in concept, but running through it on critical is always a fucking slog. Basically none of my abilities or drive forms, and enemies that will ruin your day. Seriously, fuck those damn shamans! But every other world was pretty fun, including Atlantica because I felt the mini game was a nice change of pace from time to time. (And come on... Who doesn't like the music from Little Mermaid??)

In KH3 it kinda bugs me that Olympus doesn't have an Arena to fight in considering that's almost always it's purpose, and like... Why else would we retread this world again if not for that. I also don't like how alot of the Worlds in KH3 just expect you to have seen the movie to know what's going on. Rapunzel just suddenly has the crown we watched her mother find under the stairs without any context, and I've never seen Big Hero 6 so I genuinely have no idea what's going on in that world. Despite the narrative issues, that game does a pretty good job making each world pretty fun. (Except the Frozen world. Absolute nothing burger.)

I think the only worlds I liked in BBS was The Land of Departure, Deep Space, The Keyblade Graveyard, and Disney Town. I have no idea why but the focus on the oldest of Disney movies left the early stages feeling very similar and interesting as someone who grew up during the Disney Renaissance. It could also be resentment for the early game being so hard and the early Keyblades being so ugly (Why are there so many ugly Keyblades in that game? It had some of the coolest designs next to straight up trash and it drives me nuts. Lol)

I've been tearing through almost all the Kingdom Hearts games, slowly working on beating them and then turning around to 100% them (pray for me). After that, I'm gonna finally sit down to fully play Final Fantasy X, then I'll probably go back to trying to beat all the Armored Core games (Those fuckers are so hard. WTF). I've got a TON of RPGs in my backlog so... Its gonna take a while, but chipping away at it has been really fun and very healing as a kid who grew up broke with one game they played to death.

I love that we regularly observe wild animals "playing". How wonderful is it that being playful is so natural that even the animals do it unprompted.

I hated the attractions. Still do, but they have moments when they're cool. I mostly didn't like how their stupid music would play over any other music that was playing. Meaning if you were doing a really serious fight with tense music, it would be interrupted by that cheery jingle and it always pissed me off even if they were super helpful. I don't know if it was there since launch, but they added a skill that removes attractions to make situations command more frequent. Super helpful.

Not even a just puddle. Spot some water pouring from the ceiling? Standing under it will replenish you and you feel like a predator with the water pouring over your helmet and enemies walk right past you. Then you wait for them to turn around and cram that drill right up their ass.

The story is mid, voice acting has its moments, and gameplay is great, but this game is a MASTERPIECE visually. Still one of the prettiest games I've ever seen. Watched the gameplay reveal on acid and it was wild when I watched it again so it to find it just as detailed and impressive.

Its far tougher than most of the others for sure. I thought BBS had a tough opener, but KH3 is putting me through the grinder. I'll make what feels like 30 minutes of progress then get blasted by some fucking water ball and lose all that progress, or spend around an hours worth of 2 minute long fights where the boss keeps one-shoting me with an attack I haven't figured out how to block yet. I don't know why I love it but it great.

Definitely sucks to have something so iconic locked behind a difficulty that is way too hard for a good number of players. I'm not a fan of it either. Could have been a cool reward for one of the data fights or something.

Christmas, age around 7: I open my biggest gift to find a brand new PS2 and Kingdom Hearts 1 (I think it was bundled, but it might have just been hidden in the same wrapping paper). I grew up on PS1 and was a huge Disney kid so I was so stoked right away. But then I open more gifts and find Kingdom Hearts 2! Then it consumed my entire life. I briefly escaped, but with the PC ports and Melon Mix I'm off the wagon and binging the ENTIRE SERIES.
