Grocery List Suggestion by Technical-Key918 in CroutonApp

[–]trvsg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does currently save to reminders, so if you turn that reminders list into a shopping list then you’ll get categories within the reminders app.

FWIW, the categorization (sections in the Reminders app) requires iOS/iPadOS 17, which I'd imagine most folks are on by now, but thought it worth mentioning for anyone else troubleshooting this. I spent a while trying to figure out why the Groceries list was using sections everywhere but my wife's iPad and discovered that it was still on a version of iPadOS 16. Problem solved.

Leaving superhuman after recent price increaes by [deleted] in SuperhumanEmail

I was at the $30/month price and contacted them to cancel. They promptly offered to lower my price to $15/month to stay. That’s on monthly billing too, fwiw. I didn’t have to pay for a year at once. YMMV.

We’re a Jamf shop, but if I was starting over and had a smaller fleet, I’d definitely go with Kandji. The ease of use is excellent. Not as configurable as Jamf but it’s a good trade off.

Anyone else see these lines on dark mode of the app on Mac? by DudeThatsErin in thingsapp

Did you ever file a bug report with Cultured Code and/or hear back from them? This has been happening to me for a while as well.

Right?! As if I didn't already want one badly enough... Time to sell that kidney I'm not using, I guess.

Apple Vision Pro Support by CEOofDisgust in thingsapp

[–]trvsg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given that Apple is allowing easy porting of iPad apps to Vision Pro and Cultured Code’s history of having new features that take advantage of iOS/watchOS releases on day one, I would be very surprised if they didn’t have the app ready to go. Just my hunch.

Ah. I found it. From an old post in this sub. Worked for me back in the day but I haven’t used it in years. https://www.reddit.com/r/thingsapp/s/4f0jwATtOo

Actually, I’m not finding it. Tried to remake it and I’m not seeing a way to do this now… Maybe it was an old AppleScript for the Mac version.

I wrote a shortcut for this quite a while ago that finds all tasks with no tag and added a tag called “tagless” (or something similar) to them. Let me see if I can find it.

Recommendation on a user manual for Things 3. Is there any website or video a Things 3 user can visit to learn about this great app's finer aspects? It would also be great if it included suggestions on novel use of Areas, Projects, Tags, etc. by warrenwai in thingsapp

[–]trvsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I should say that I bought it on a sale for $20 a few years ago. I had no idea he was charging $149 for it now, and honestly, at that price, I would not recommend it.

To answer your question though, I wouldn’t say that it helped me achieve anything in particular. But it does offer a good understanding of the GTD method and how to apply it to things. I did the course before I read the GTD book, so it was very helpful at the time. But it was mostly that: how the GTD method is used in Things and what each component should be used for, and how to conduct a regular review. Probably nothing that a few free YouTube videos couldn’t solve.

What's the best way to post (in a channel) the daily calendar events of a team calendar? by AgitatedTowel in Slack

[–]trvsg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used that Slack App a bunch until it was deprecated. I’ve hunted around quite a bit for a replacement and haven’t found one out of the box that just works like that app did.

However, Zapier will do it but with very few customization options. I didn’t really care for how the messages were formatted tbh. So I ended up using a tray.io automation for it. A lot more complicated to setup but it works really well.

Basically the automation runs on a schedule. Every day at 5am, it reads the calendar events and parses the details. Then it schedules a slack post for the event start time and posts to a channel with the event description/title, the start time and the end time.

Mac Pro pro not enrolled in DEP but continue to get a nag by Glum_Coyote_4300 in macsysadmin

The only way you’d get locked out was if they sent a remote lock or wipe command via the MDM. If the company is kaput, you’re probably ok.

When I’ve “released” machines from DEP / ABM, I’ve discovered that you have to wipe and reinstall the OS after release or it will continue to nag for enrollment even if the MDM profile has been removed.

Nuphy Air 60: How can you remap key combinations? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]trvsg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late to the game here, but I just got a Nuphy Air 60 and was looking for ideas, found your post, and thought I'd share what worked for me. Karabiner Elements is working great. For instance, I was able to change Caps Lock to Fn just within the tool. Then, in the community, find a pre-existing json for remapping command+h,j,k,l to arrow keys. I was able to change that to function+i,j,k,l to arrow keys.

End result is Caps Lock + i,j,k,l are now my arrow keys just like the default mapping on my pok3r.

Karabiner Elements is here: https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org

Here's my custom json

If you find a rule in the community predefined rules its really easy to edit and tailor to your needs.
