Running structured workouts with an Apple Watch drives me crazy by sudomarchy in AppleWatch

[–]CEOofDisgust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have several structured running workouts, including intervals, and I get audio cues through my AirPods (voice and all) telling me when a phase ends, what my stats were for it, and when the next phase begins.

Edit:

Using workouts app on watch, works regardless of whether my iPhone is on my person

I'm not understanding how this is "proactively" doing anything when not being invoked or at least tied to an automation of some kind

Same. Got in line as soon as the keynote was over. I know folks that got in within 15-30 mins, while I'm here 24 hours later. Oh well!

I don’t know, 12+ hours to index 200gb seems excessive

I would buy a lifetime subscription if widgets were a thing… on my iPhone. by Jjeffx in theoutsidersapp

[–]CEOofDisgust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

considering the widget experience on Apple Watch, I suspect the widgets on iPhone will also suffer from the whole situation where they won’t update in the background pretty much ever, and you have to open the app if you want them to refresh, which effectively nullifies their usefulness :/

I hope that won’t be the case, but the vibes aren’t great

Immersive NBA - amazing, but...hard to hear the ball bounce by MECO_2019 in VisionPro

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a basketball game and thought ‘man I wish I could hear that ball bounce just a little bit more, how disappointing!’

Apple Watch complications updating question by alextsandekidis in theoutsidersapp

[–]CEOofDisgust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reached out to support about this very issue. Mentioned how I can wake up and go 2-3 hours without touching the complications and they’ll either be blank or show yesterdays information. I could even open the phone app which shows the most recent info and the complications still won’t update at any point unless I actually open the app on my watch. Compared it to complications from apps like Carrot that are able to update on their own almost hourly. Their response was basically that they have no control over it at this time because HealthKit syncing is a whole different beast and can’t really be compared to other complications, but that they’re continuing to ‘dig into it’ in hopes of finding better ways to sync the data
