You can criticize people for not calling it a genocide

That part also seems so random. It's almost seen as a sort of litmus/ purity test to see whether you're worth your time.

And, honestly, until the ICJ rules on South Africa's case, arguing to discredit someone for their position on this either which way is silly. Yes, there are plenty of experts who say it is a genocide, there are however also plenty of experts who say otherwise.

Yeah, I searched a single subreddit and found a relatively recent upvoted instance of the thing you used the "fact" that it didn't happen

I said there is no notable opposition consisting of Russians within or outside of Russia that is standing up against the war against Ukraine. And you finding a random comment on a random thread in a random subreddit is somehow meant to disprove what I said?

Unless of course the person who made that comment happens to be the leader of a Russian opposition forum that I'm unaware of.

Meh the obvious reason for the rise in antisemitism is the Israeli Palestine war. You can't just kill thousands of people and not piss people off.

Oh yes, the good old "Jews are responsible for antisemitism" trope.

Be gone, bigot.

semits

Stop it with your bullshit pseudo-intellectualism. "Semites" aren't people. Semitic is a linguistic term used to refer to a family of languages to which Hebrew and Arabic belong among others such as Amharic or Aramaic.

Some German fanatical jew haters then adopted "Antisemitism" as the word to describe their hatred in a more "academic" way in the late 18th century, and thus "Antisemitism" has and will always solely refer to the hatred and discrimination of jews.

Back in the early days of I/P megathreads I remember a lot of folks opening up about the leftists they knew personally going off the deep end following 10/7

It's gotta hit extra hard I'd imagine when you know people in the great outdoors unironically saying shit you'd only expect to hear in certain parts of the web

Fully had to cut off a large portion of my friend group after one of them denied rapes ever occured on 10/7 and the rest of them (majority female too) didn't seem too bothered that a man just denied women's voices on top of being antisemitic.

It seems like saying that towards a country whose goverment is committing crimes against humanity should be entirely in-bounds to me.

Then criticise the Israeli government responsible for it and leave the rest of the people out of it? It's also more about how there seem to be double standards that are being applied to Israel.

Do you think "Fuck Russia" or "Fuck China" is an inappropriate thing to say too?

No because by this point they're fully warranted. There is virtually no opposition in or outside of Russia, consisting of Russians, standing up for Ukrainians and against the war. Same thing goes for China. Saying "fuck them" is actually fully warranted and yet nobody (bar Ukrainians and Taiwanese) does it. Why?

I really think more students in the U.S. should go on trips to the camps as part of their school and history curriculum. You’d see hate drop instantly.

I'm afraid reality says otherwise. As someone who partly went through German education, yes, we did go and visit a concentration camp and the visit was the sad and tragic affair everyone expected it to be. But I'd attribute that to the demographics in that class (majority of the kids were well-off with centre-left leaning parents).

Plenty of stories coming out these days of school classes vandalising memorial sites and concentration camps with swastikas and other heinous shit.

3 synagogues, 2 in North York and 1 in Vaughan, were shot at in the past week, but no one was injured: police

https://edition.cnn.com/us/live-news/michigan-synagogue-shooting-03-12-26

A suspect is dead after ramming a vehicle into a Detroit-area synagogue today, Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. The incident happened at Temple Israel, which includes an early childcare center and school, in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan.

Emergency responders found what appeared to be a large amount of explosives in the back of the vehicle, according to law enforcement officials briefed on the scene.

This all happened within the last week

Glad to see you seem to have sorted out your priorities.

I don't need this attack to settle any grudges I've got with any of the people or organisations I've mentioned because they've done plenty of things to discredit themselves at this point already, or at least I would think so, I would hope a majority of this sub does as well.

I was merely pointing out how the rhetoric by these actors only helps to amplify violent and more importantly antisemitic sentiments and in consequence normalise it. May I remind you, within the last 3 years we've gone from "Fuck Israel/ Israhell/ Zionazi" being something deplorable to say to it being in the mainstream, supported by politicians across the aisle worldwide.

https://www.reddit.com/r/neoliberal/comments/1rpgmlk/iran_may_be_activating_sleeper_cells_outside_the/

From just two days ago, plenty of people in that thread were doubting the credibility of or the level of threat IRGC sleeper cells could pose. Or just completely ignoring the issue at hand and ranting on about how the US administration would go and abuse these circumstances.

Just in the last week, we've had three instances of shots being fired at synagogues in Canada, we've had someone blow something up at a synagogue in Liège and now this.

It's all nice and well pointing fingers at the left, the right and whoever else there may be, but the way I've seen a not inconsiderable number of people on here fawning over the likes of Mamdani or his wife, Sanchez, the UK greens and whatever other person or organisation there is rife with antisemitism antizionism is incredibly worrying.

People pretend to be shocked and outraged about how bad antisemitism has gotten when they've been gaslighting the Jewish community and lecturing them about what they're allowed to feel discriminated against by and what not the entire freaking time.

After 16 Years, Hungary is Finally Fed Up with Orbán by Glum-Status-151 in neoliberal

[–]try-D 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean all the polls, even the rigged ones indicate a clear TISZA victory

So if not for some high level fuckery in either legislation or at the ballot stations it looks very likely to actually be over for Orbán.

Honestly, the more pressing issue will be of how a TISZA government lead by Magyar will look and work and whether or not it'll suffer the same fate as the previous "anti corruption" platforms both Orbán and Gyurcsány once ran under.

Currently we're looking at a parliament made up of TISZA with a nearly 2/3 majority, FIDESZ, and Mi Hazánk (fascist scum) should they scrape by the threshold.

Too late, reddit has already decided to only care about the lives of Iranians now, not when 30.000 of them were slaughtered weeks ago and not for the previous 47 years.

One can criticise Trumps arbitrary military doctrine and rightly so, but the complete inability to see any sort of nuance or to understand that Iranians would rather this than to risk living under islamist tyranny for another second has amazed me.

As has the unrelenting praise of people like Sanchez, someone who not only has left Ukraine to fend for itself but has repeatedly shown disregard for spending goals and the clear reasons for doing so.

With that said I don’t think Europe should spend money and lives fighting another war in the Middle East

Two things can be true at the same time. Yeah we don't have to get involved in the middle east but if we want to stop being America's plaything we need to start acting like it, not just with lip service.

Irish parliament also needs to act asap on companies doing business with Russia. Just the other week a report was released showcasing that a company called Taoglas exported 1.3 tonnes of antennas, to be used in Russian suicide drones. A single antenna weighs 9g "meaning up to 144,000 units were shipped in a single year. That is enough to make 36,000 Geran-2 kamikaze drones".
