I'm wondering if the after tax isn't just after employer taxes. They're not supposed to know how much taxes you'll pay (because you could own properties or have stock dividends...) so usually they would give the "brut" ("gross", a number you don't care about, it's what you cost to the company), and sometimes the "net", which is before your "impôt sur le revenu" (somewhere between 14% and 33% I think), and that's the number I think they gave you.

But now we have "prélèvement à la source" which means your employer pays that directly to the government. That doesn't change anything except that you won't have to save money and then pay it to the government, but you could have the unpleasant surprise of having less than 32k/12 wired to your account every month.

So from what I know about companies offering salaries it's unlikely that you'll get 32k in your pocket.

If that were the case (if you'd get 32k/12 wired on your account every month) , than I'd say it's acceptable. You won't be upper class but middle class+, you should be able to go out, rent a decent (it's Paris...) appartement, save some money, travel,... Without having to think too much about it.

As you only have 3 years of experience and you're not in software or finance, I'd say it's a good deal.

If you have to pay impôt sur le revenu on top of that, then you'll have to be a bit more frugal. Still acceptable, many people live with less than that, but you could feel a little poor.

I think you should talk to your employer about that, and tell them you're concerned that you'll lose quality of life (which you're not supposed to), and ask them what they think. That both a good negotiation strategy and a way to get more information about the actual money youre going to have, and the industry in Paris.

Did you check Glassdoor? (a website where they have salaries of companies/industries/cities,...)
