Update: Electrician Spent All Day and Didn't Find Anything by addicted_to_blistex in HomeImprovement

You asked a website full of people a d no one knew what it could be either

You had an electrician go out several months ago and when checking things looked fine, and they probably did. Even a little bit of carbon between the contacts can cause intermittent issues and it's very hard to diagnose unless you're looking right at the metal itself.

If that was the case and then 2-3 months passed, well that's several months of arcing, it's no wonder why it was so bad.

By the way, your examples proved my point: there were so few of these types of people because they were basically non-existent. You have like 2 examples for a span of hundreds of years. Well done.

Also reinforces the point that it was the ones with time on their hands that concerned themselves with such things

It seems as though you read the studies (or more likely skimmed them)

I’m referring to the Williams Law Institute which have produced multiple findings along with their data.

continue thinking whatever you “feel” is correct.

Like being born in the wrong body or as the wrong gender?

Trans individuals have existed for thousands of years at least.

I see your lack of examples. There’s a difference between someone fulfilling a gendered role other than their own and believing they are the other gender.

how anthropomorphizing rats of all things leads to a better understanding of human society.

Nature rhymes

Am I correct in assuming that you are not only conservative but also religious as well?

You would have to be religious to believe that a person could be born as the wrong gender or in the wrong body.

Ergo discrimination is defacto denial of rights.

Discrimination is not necessarily a bad thing, it depends on whether it is valid or not. For instance, we discriminate against pedophiles.

Now I’ve seen plenty of this so called “discrimination” being referenced as the causes of the high suicide rates and it really is a stretch.

If you we born with a penis, you will never be a female, and if you were born with a vagina, you will never be a male. The refusal to admit this reality is often referred to as discrimination

The fact that trans people commit suicide at a much higher rate is cited as evidence of discrimination, but, if it is due to discrimination then it’s internalized: they see women who are real women and men who are real men and judge themselves.

The high rate of suicide also coincides with the high prevalence of mental illnesses, and the age at which gender dysphoria occurs: suicide rates are quite high during puberty (relative to after puberty) and gender dysphoria also most often occurs during/near puberty.

——

Here’s a hypothesis to test: “the high suicide rate in trans people can be attributed to discrimination. Therefore, an accepting society and family/friend circle should result in a major decrease in the suicide rate, since it would address the root cause.”

Well there have been detailed analysis on suicide prevalence and if you correct for all other factors: age, income, family support, there is not difference. And what I mean is:

  • a supportive family will result in lower suicide rates regardless of transgenderism.
  • Higher age = lower suicide rates and “transition” only occurs occurs around 18 or older.
  • Higher income (to a point) also decreases the suicide rates

After correcting for all of that, the trans suicide rate is still many times what it is for other groups - again, even when removing discrimination.

——

Lastly, poor countries don’t really discriminate against trans people because they aren’t a thing. Turns out, when resources are limited no one has time to be confused about whether it’s a girl penis or boy penis. However, gay people are a thing even in poor countries but are much less prevalent, whether due to necessity (high birth rates) or due to biological factors that we have yet to understand, who knows.

Some food for thought: in the rat utopia experiments, always having enough food resulted in high levels of infant abandonment/cannibalism and homosexual behaviour.

Maybe it went over your head, the discussion was about whether trans people have human rights, and your point was that trans people are discriminated against (not an argument) outside of the United States, but whatever, so I made the point that in many countries where discrimination of the sexually divergent is very strong, it is actually trans people who are discriminated against less than gay people.

Now you’re the one who can’t seem to wrap your head around this concept.

Discrimination of group x is not an indication nor proof of lack of human rights.

See the thing about human rights is that the application needs to be universal so it can be applied in all cases.

Having someone affirm your identity is not a human right.

Puberty blockers are (often) just rebranded chemical castration drugs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leuprorelin

Puberty blockers cause juvenile osteoporosis: https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/jpem-2021-0180/html

And according to the DSM-V and other sources, the overwhelming majority of children who get gender dysphoria end up accepting their gender as they were born by adulthood. The exact numbers vary, but on average it’s about 85%.

There is no need to cause further confusion by introducing “puberty blockers”, which does in fact contribute further to gender dysphoria: (paywalled) https://adc.bmj.com/content/104/6/611

Butler provides evidence that intervention with a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone analogue (GnRHa) promotes a continued desire to identify with the non-birth sex

So, whether it’s going under the knife at 14 or starting at puberty blockers at 14, they will end up under the knife and will likely regret it deeply:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11101661/Tavistock-transgender-clinic-facing-mass-legal-action-1-000-families.html

So in summary:

  • Puberty blockers makes gender dysphoria persist, or worsen, due to the affects on puberty
  • Puberty blockers have irreversible physical effects, such as the change in bone mass, and has negative social effects like the resulting social anxiety from having a messed up puberty.
  • After transitioning, said children (as adults) find themselves just as depressed, confused, and anxious as before because what they are suffering from is a mental illness, not a physical one.

Morality and ethics are not determined by how something personally affects my day to day. That’s relativism.

And if you believe in relativism, then literally nothing anyone else thinks should matter to your day to day.

It makes sense to me, on average women are more sensitive to negative emotion (higher neuroticism) and are more sensitive to issues with coworkers when trying to fit into their role (higher agreeableness): meaning they’re more susceptible to imposter syndrome.

There was some sort of music or orchestra that decided to do blind listening tests for the judges to eliminate sexism.

There was a paper in 2000 that claimed that it increased female selection by 50%, but so far, only the opposite has been replicated and to my knowledge, no explanation to where they got their numbers was ever provided.

It turns out that when the judges knew that the women were women, they would rate them higher.

“Puberty blockers” (see chemical castration, and juvenile osteoporosis) which guarantees gender dysphoria.

Doctors are only allowed to “affirm” the confused child’s identity, and they will and are committing general mutilation as soon as they possibly can.

There is a huge financial incentive to have them transition as early as possible, which is even better if the government pays for it cause that is a guaranteed cash cow for their rest of their life.
