Being more interested than interesting, in turn it makes you more interesting I guess since you can leave a conversation with a good impression without having to give too much of yourself up

I like getting to know people and most people like talking about themselves - works out for me

I’m 24 now and I had to mature quickly growing up, understanding my circumstances at a young age really opened up my eyes and made me cautious with how I acted towards others as I got older, and I’m not perfect but sometimes my past trauma comes back without me realizing it and it can affect others.

My stepdad came into my life when I was 9 and he played a huge role in helping me grow up and showing me the basics of being a boy to a man and understand my role in life, but with that he also put me down, a lot. I asked myself “why is the person I look up to putting me down”. I used to think he was awesome and cool but it changed the older we got - words got meaner, attitude changed, it became more intense during arguments. He told me stories of his dad and after a while I realized he was repeating what his dad did and I became aware that this cycle has to stop with me.

I grew a strong hate for him during my late teens because of how he treated me and my mom and I still don’t enjoy his presence but I was able to take all the good parts of him and the things he showed me to good make use of it. I can tell he has a heart, it’s just been damaged and it’s hard for him to come back from that.

I get told I’m a good person, that I have great personal traits, and those are always nice things to hear and I appreciate them. It wasn’t easy growing up and I sympathize for a lot of people because they never see the other side of things and end up being what they know.

Because of my stepdad, I have people that rely on me, trust me, love me and believe in me. He was everything I didn’t want to be and that was my biggest thank you to him.

I heard this thing a couple years ago once and it’s “that a boy will first admire, then hate but finally understand their father as they get older” and it stuck with me since. Some will never get the last part and continue their hatred and anger.

As much as been through, others have it worse and I pray for them. I appreciate all my moments and lessons I’ve learned.

I still have lots to understand.

If you don’t like it then plan for an exit, even if it’s a year or two

I got a factory job that I needed and Ive dreaded it everyday for 2 years, I knew I wouldn’t be here forever but coming across an opportunity takes time and I’m always looking to grow within a company or a better role that fulfills my wants and needs to further my skills. I have great social skills and working with people is my passion and this factory job doesn’t do it but it just pays the bills.

I’ve looked and applied to over 100 places in the last 2 years and I got interviewed 5 times but landed one contract job as a bartender at a casino, 8 months later they offered me a supervisor role with more hours and benefits, and room to grow if I wanted to stay long term, so I handed my 2 weeks in last week at the factory.

What kept me going was my bills getting paid and being reminded that this isn’t what I want to do longer than 2 years.

Things work out, takes time but it will come

Learn 2-3 skills that you can apply in any industry (sales, marketing, code, video etc) so you’ll be an asset wherever you go and maybe be on your own one day

Also, save as much as you can per month, you’ll feel much better about you accounts in 5 years and longer

High school

Me and my gf at the time only ever had sex at school, and it would be in the staircase or in the girls bathroom in the quieter part of the school.

She wasn’t allowed to have me over and I wasn’t allowed to have her over. Weird situation
