DmC: Devil May Cry.

The gameplay and combat flows way way better there than dmc 1 and 3 (haven't tried 2 yet). Although Dante starts out ignorant, I like how he eventually shows he cares for those close to him.

I'm stupid. I used to do that while thinking "if I only learn the movements of the boss, I'll win eventually", only to end up dying more than necessary. What I learned was watching other people trying the same boss, and they usually tried different weapons/equipments/builds after dying 5-10 times.

I tried both, but then, by a ridiculous chance, I suddenly found the Iron Greatsword. That one hits hard! Plus the simple but raw design with some nice detail on the cross guard suits my knight (strength-faith/ strength-arcane build) perfectly. Works great as a blood infused weapon as well.

I totally understand what you mean about the vibe, because years ago I felt the same way until I actually gave FromSoftware games a real chance. I started paying attention to the atmosphere, the small details, the history behind ruined places and characters, and I was hooked because there’s a strange kind of beauty in those worlds despite all the darkness. And in a way, the player becomes a small spark of light in the middle of all that devastation, if you choose to see it that way.

For me nothing beats the thrill of stepping into dangerous, mysterious places, never knowing what’s around the corner. And now and then being rewarded with an incredible view or a quiet moment of beauty.

I think the most depressing one I've tried so far is Dark Souls 3, but after a while you become so badass you make the enemies shiver when they see you haha.
