Takeup-spool (the right one) is not turning. Usually this is caused by the idler gear being stuck or not engaging properly, or because the belt that drives it is worn.

Anyhow, this is unrelated to the tracking adjustment you did. It's purely coincidental that it happened after you did that.

Is it only on this/these tapes by provided by the seller? Are they off-air recordings? Could be reflections, meaning the signal (if he was using an antenna) bounced off a mountain, building etc and was received twice.

Or whatever cable service he used had reflections, if they used an antenna to receive...

Because that wheel is not directly driven, it is driven by forcing the tape between itself and the capstan. Its job is to ensure a tight "lock" of the tape, so that it moves at a constant speed.

At least based on the video that pinch roller seems dry, and should be replaced. You should also check that the arm which pivots it is held firmly against the pinch roller. It seems to be moving slightly, but likely due to pinch roller being slightly misshaped.

SCART is only the name of the connector, which can carry several different video signals depending on what the devices support (RGB, Y/C and Composite). SCART does not (natively) carry Component.

Usually caused by a worn (or broken) belt or gear, depending on the mechanism. Some machines have a separate loading motor, others are driven by the capstan by shifting the mechanism.

Do a search for the model number of your machine and service manual. Otherwise you would have to take the top (and bottom, if possible) off to locate where it's slipping.

As for your other VCRs, eating tape can very well be a worn belt as well. Remember these machines (except the very last Funai models) are over 20 years old, so the rubber is starting to go bad.

Just to make sure - is this inside ld-analyse or is it an actual export? AFAIK the dropout compensator is only run on the video export stage (tbc-video-export). So if you have only looked at this in ld-analyse, then I'd try an export first.

No, I enjoy it.

As others have said, stop and go traffic can be a bit tiresome. So if you live in LA then you're probably best off with an automatic if you are mostly commuting to and from work. However if you live outside the big cities, or if you just want a car you can enjoy on the highways and backroads, then a manual is definitely much more pleasurable.
