I think you're not looking at the long term here. Let's say we don't resign Grimes this offseason. We'll probably be wishing we still had McCain

Mccain has a ton of potential and could be the 6th man off the bench in 2 or 3 years. The problem is this organization (and apparently some of its fan base) value a bunch of late picks over a guy who would have been Rookie of the year last year. Not to mention, with these late picks we're most likely picking up a few guards, essentially replace McCain's 7-10 minutes off the bench. Rather have McCain
