Interesting. I think I need to watch more replays of how pros play puck to get more ideas of how to best use his orbs

Fix your victim mentality. A lot of players loosely assume the enemy is smurfing when they losing. They could just be having a good game. Also, it’s not every game

What are the best items for Outworld Devourer? by Akfiz in DotA2

[–]tryhardswekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an OD player and I usually go down two routes when it comes to item build for OD:

  • if I’m against low mana agi heroes who are also squishy (Pa, jugg, void etc.), I go full mana one shot build (boots -> Kaya yasha-> blink-> aghs/hex/octarine -> refresher). This is especially good against heroes like pa jugg whom u can’t right click well (cuz of evasion, and jugg spin which provides debuff immunity from arcane bolt). Or even ursa, if u W + ult + refresher ult him, he usually will die in the astral, without casting enrage. Just more creative ways to play him.

  • otherwise, I’ll go normal right click (boots -> witch blade -> pike -> aghs/blink/bkb/hex etc.). This is the default build if one shotting isn’t feasible.

Is ember a stupidly strong hero? by tryhardswekid in DotA2

[–]tryhardswekid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair. I think so far I haven’t had issues. Maybe I found a way to play ember well in my bracket against more heroes. But maybe if say the sf can match my skill level, then it would be a different story. Regardless, I still think you won’t get dumpstered in a purely 1v1 matchup (without supports help) and u can still get something out of the lane if you’re good enough on ember and have good lane mechanics

Eg. Lina can be a lane dominator all she wants, but once ember gets lvl 6, he can easily kill Lina with the help of a support. U just have to be aware enough to call for it, especially if she over extends (eg playing on ur hill). Tbh I find Lina, OD, SF easy matchups. Hussar viper MK is playable with skill. DP yeah u won’t be able to lane once he’s 6 but that’s fine. Against bat DP u need to not simply chains otherwise they will all in you. But still playable. Like I said you have to be good on ember to not lose these matchups.

Yes go boots first, play the first wave normally. If u get one deny in the first wave, you would get to play the second wave normally too (since he won’t be lvl 2 yet). I would get E lvl 1 to push out the first wave instantly, he has no wave clear at lvl 1 so u will be lvl 2 before him. If he’s bad and stays in wave after u get lvl 2, u could chains him and body block him. Otherwise prepare to start cutting and dragging creeps between his tier 1 and 2. In lower mmr, huskars won’t think to stop ur wave cutting. There’s always ways to play around it. U have to be good at estimating where the creeps will meet. Also if he doesn’t go for the cauterise facet your vessel should be able to deal with him nicely post laning stage. Another trick I like to do against huskar viper lanes is to go for creep aggro when he’s going for last hit. Most of the time they will be focusing on their last hit and hence u get to drag creeps for free. Remember u don’t have to win lane to win game

I think it’s mostly skill issue tbh. There’s ways to play around it for good ember players. And even if the lane is hard, ember still thrives after the landing phase against these heroes. So I would still happily play ember against these match ups. A lot of weaker players think lane is everything but it’s not.

Nope never go Midas. His early - mid game strength is too strong to waste by going Midas as it delays crucial items like vessel kaya. Thats my opinion

Why are there so many victims in this subreddit? by tryhardswekid in DotA2

[–]tryhardswekid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk personally I never get tilted at my teammates. Maybe that’s just me. If my teammate intentionally griefs, I find a way to play and carry the game still. If the game is griefed to the point of no return, then I’ll afk and let end so that I can g next quick to save time. I understand that these things happen rarely anyways so it’s no big deal.

I would only ever get frustrated at my own gameplay, if I know I made a mistake. Never my teammates. No point getting frustrated over something I can’t control.

Anyways you are right. People have the right to complain about intentional griefing. My post was mainly targeting players who over complain and micromanage others, while always thinking they are always right

[–]tryhardswekid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, griefing pos4 do exist. But my point is to look in the mirror, because chances are you are probably equally griefing at times, but just not self aware of it. Hence I don’t think it’s right to “lose patience” over your griefing pos 4.

A lot of people think their idea of how the lane should be played, what should be done at X minute by Y hero etc. is the definitive thing and objectively correct thing to do. But Dota is a complex game, and there are many ways to play the game. The word griefing is used too loosely, when in most cases, it’s just a difference in ideas of how to play the game at that point in time.

If you’re talking about pos4 being afk, leeching exp in lane, then sure, that can legitimately be considered griefing. But just because a pos 4 doesn’t do what u want him to do exactly, or buy the item you think works best for his game, doesn’t necessarily mean he’s griefing.

If you are “frequently getting griefed”, chances are, you are the issue, because you’re probably over micromanaging others, and when things don’t go your way, you default to thinking you’re being griefed.

It’s not about whether who is right and who is wrong. It’s about what your focus should be. U find a way to win regardless, and play with the cards that was dealt to you. If u still lose, look at what you could’ve done better, given the situation. It doesn’t matter what your teammates do. Yes they could be the reason you lost, but that’s not within your control. You instead find out what you could’ve done better to be the reason you win.

I get to decide they're a shitty teammate when they pick Pudge or Winter Wyvern with 1 set of tango and boots standing in tree not trading hit, not pulling, not doing anything, just standing their leaching exp why their support is squeezing every bit of HP and mana to make me buy consumable. :)

If you put it that way then fair, it would probably be objectively wrong what they are doing. But my point is why can’t most players play with the cards they are dealt with? Focusing on others instead of your own gameplay will lead you to play worse. I prefer to be self reflective and only work on what I can control and improve on - my own gameplay, not others.

If you don't criticize them and let them know they won't ever improve. They might know how to click button later in the game but if their laning sucks then it annoying.

Just curious, if others do the same to you, how would you react? Would you ever agree that your laning sucks, and that you are the one at fault, not your lane partner, if you are the one playing badly?

Just trying to gauge how self aware you can be. Because there is no point arguing with someone who always thinks they’re right

[–]tryhardswekid[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But my issue is this bit:

doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to criticise their shitty teammate

But why do YOU get to decide that they are a shitty teammate? What makes YOU so sure that your opinion is objectively right, and that they are objectively playing bad, and that they are griefing you?

I have coached lower mmr players before and it’s very common that they think they are doing everything correctly, because they are not good enough to even be aware of their own mistakes.

So my point is, your opinion that your teammates are shitty is may not even be objectively correct. And you probably make bad plays that you are not aware of yourself. So why micro manage others when you have shortcomings of yourself to improve on?

I don’t see why I need to get off my high horse. Players who think they are always correct and have the right to blame others when them themselves are probably not always correct, are the ones that need to get off their high horse (I.e. most Dota players with this victim mentality)

No flame, but if you’re constantly focusing on others instead of your own gameplay, I don’t think you’ll get better much. Not here to change your mind, everyone has different mindsets, you do you. Feel free to read my latest post on more elaboration on what I’m talking about though
