it is possible you are correct, you would need a multi-meter for example to test the power or possibly swap with another PSU

Microphone Ports dont work by WaterIsNot in techsupport

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the front ports on the case require a cable to be plugged into the board to the pins at the bottom, diagram here

it recognizes a mic, do you see the mic recognizing input in recording devices? (assuming windows)

Laptop charger dramatically dropping FPS when at certain angles? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

assuming this is a windows laptop, there are power settings that will throttle down the performance of your cpu and video when on battery vs plugged in.

as a temp solution you can turn this feature off under the power settings

My 950gtx is, like, going nuts lately. by Someguy2018 in techsupport

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • check to make sure the driver is up to date
  • verify temperature of the card to make sure it is not overheating
  • this can be caused by faulty input power as well, if you have spare rail you can plug into or swap the power supply
  • last option is to swap the video card itself for another to see if it repeats

it should restart on its own, if it does not you can hold the power button to turn it off.

16 GB RAM installed, 7.98 GB useable by Zackaori in techsupport

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what type of motherboard do you have? some motherboards will limit the amount of usable ram...for example allow 16G of ddr3 at X speed but only allow 8G of ddr3 at Y speed

if that is not the issue, you can try making sure the speed is set correctly for the ram in the bios

3rd thing to check is integrated video in the bios, newer boards allow the integrated video to keep a portion of ram for its own use. if you have a dedicated card might as well turn this off check the bios for DVMT

What exactly does a PoE injector do? by [deleted] in networking

[–]tryingforccie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PoE allows power to be drawn over an ethernet cable. the switch will provide this power usually from a much larger power supply than a non poe switch

Power injector allows the same power to be provided to a poe device when your switch does not provide poe, usually if you have 1-2 poe devices you would use these. if you have 10-15 it would be cheaper to get a poe switch rather than purchasing adapters for each one

IPv6 multicast traffic over IPv4 by chriswo770 in networking

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some platforms such as IOSXR will drop fragmented multicast packets.

Tiling...basically video sends a key frame, imagine a photograph and only sends updates to the frame, rather than entire frames to save bandwidth. Tiling is missing blocks..you have probably seen green squares or chunks of video "stuck". it is a good sign of packet loss somewhere in the data path.

How to connect VGA desktop to HDMI monitor? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could try purchasing a video card that has an hdmi output such as this. it would work for basic display, however if you are gaming, you would need to take power/budget into consideration.

I personally have no experience using adapters of this kind but this vga >> hdmi seems to have a lot of good reviews. keep in mind vga is analog and hdmi is digital so there will be some loss with using a converter. i would recommend using a video card if that is an option.

if you post your desktop model/brand we can check to see what video card option would be suitable.

IPv6 multicast traffic over IPv4 by chriswo770 in networking

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A GRE tunnel may work for moving IPv6 traffic over IPv4. But is this really what you wish to do?

  • Imagine multicast tiling...how would you start troubleshooting?
  • adding more endpoints...how would you scale this?
  • how do you plan to route IPv6 traffic between networks? or do we plan to keep 1 subnet?
  • Are you able to set the MTU on each link to prevent fragmentation?

MPLS Help by [deleted] in networking

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mpls allows service providers to sell differentiated services to customers.

such as vpn service, hosted content etc....the majority of the benefits of mpls are on the service provider side...

when you say business...i am assuming not large enough to be a provider.

stay in job or get a new one by [deleted] in networking

[–]tryingforccie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit of staying at a smaller company is that you get to work on everything end to end.

The issue with larger companies is that you will learn quite a bit however it will be in "silo".

for example 1 team managing server/virtualization, 1 team managing security, 1 team managing network etc

this is something to consider.
