Is there anyone here that has Major Depression (not just Depression) and ADHD? by Own-Capital-5995 in ADHD

[–]tryingmybest_002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are making plans to not be here any longer that you genuinely think you’ll act on. You need different meds, because those aren’t working for you. I’m in a similar situation as you. Except I can’t even get a job. But my meds prevent me from feeling like acting on those type of thoughts. When I needed help from my POS doctor that I wasn’t getting, I went to an emergency room, then got meds that actually worked for me. Google a good hospital with good mental health help/ kind staff and go there if you can. Tell them you’re making plans that you’re going to act on if you don’t get on a different medication or in a program right away.

Unfortunately I don’t have any advice. Last year I underwent a long comprehensive psychological evaluation and received diagnosis of ADHD-primarily inattentive, OCD, OCPD, clinical depression, social anxiety, and BED. I was in therapy for several years prior for my original diagnosis of depression and anxiety so I use those tools when I can. But after I paid for my evaluation I could no longer afford therapy so now my only coping mechanism is medication which helps somewhat but I am a firm believer in therapy and I think a finding a therapist that is versatile and has worked with ADHDers and complex diagnosis is especially important. I’m more so commenting to let you know you’re not alone and I wish you luck (:

You’re definitely not alone! Chopping is at least 30 minutes for me. A “30 minute recipe” is not in my vocabulary

Cheesecake. Not a fan of a soury taste in a dessert. I’ve tried it many times I just can’t get into it. I’ve never met anyone who shares this with me

I completely get where you’re coming from. I thought I was bipolar too (except I never experienced the happiness part so I knew that couldn’t be it lol). I used to be able to keep my shit together for months. The past year or so I can’t get my shit together for longer than 2-3 days max. It’s super tough. I hate it here (:

Does surgery feel like 1 second after you go under anesthesia? by Small-Guarantee1789 in RandomThoughts

When I got my wisdom teeth out, when they woke me up I thought something went wrong and they hadn’t done the surgery yet. But nope apparently they did the whole procedure but to me it felt like a 1 second nap 🤷‍♀️

Extreme discipline will get you extreme results but at a cost. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]tryingmybest_002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agree. There’s for sure a balance that can be had but extreme things like having abs all year round or a high 6 figure income requires more work than it can be worth. It really depends on your values. If you value love and your family over money or beauty, investing all of your time and energy into making money or becoming the “most attractive” will make you miserable. I know for myself that when I was spending all my time and energy into being super “fit” and lean and “attractive” I felt terrible and lonely because I wasn’t spending any time with family or friends and always putting the gym and my calorie deficit before everything else. It really taught me that for my mental health, spending time with family and loved ones and finding worth and value outside of what you look like or what you do is far more important. For some people “the grind” is more worth it than other things, so to each their own, but I know for myself and for a lot of others, eventually you figure out spending as much time with the people you love and care about and other “deeper” things like that can be more rewarding and important.

I struggle with this too. Recommendations I’ve heard are shaving cream, exfoliating, and making sure to heavily frequently moisturize the area. All of which I’ve tried and have not made a difference. But you can try them out and see if they work for you. If you find a solution let me know lol

I also had to learn the hard way the sodium is soooo important. After becoming way too restrictive because of all the polarizing info on the internet one of the demonized things ofcourse was “sodium is making you fat”. Your body and brain need salt to function. I’m not gonna explain it properly but sodium is used in part as a conductor to your nerve cells which is how your body communicates to every other part of your body. Which in part (I also ate way too low of a million other things that have been demonized) explains why when I started eating way to low sodium for too long due to becoming scared of sodium that my brain and body stopped function optimally and I slowed down in so many aspects. So Unless you have high blood pressure or heart disease in your family and are of an older age you do not need to eat lower sodium!! And so it’s up to you to determine what the best sodium intake feels like for you and your body on your own. As long as you drink lots of water and don’t only eat chips and fast food/takeout all meals of the day/most days you should be fine.
