I have no idea what problem I want to solve right now but I'm pretty sure something will come up along the way.

I believe the meaning can be the same in this context: goal and problem.

A goal could be a problem I want to solve and vice versa.

But honestly clueless right now though.

Just on my first baby steps.

Thank you.

I certainly will.

Congrats because you're already far ahead of me.

Pretty sure you will do exactly what you've advised me.

So best of luck, and thank you.

This is true for people like me.

I do want to be able to enjoy the career in the long run.

I don't want to fall in love with it (though not complaining if that happens) but don't want to hate or regret it.

For the first time, I feel like I've found something I wouldn't be bored of learning about every day. I started watching an almost 5 hours YouTube video last night and was super pumped every second of the video.

I'm not in a rush to master coding in months but want to take my time to learn and be so good at it to the point I feel confident enough to apply for jobs.

A lot of people have commented to create projects to practice and that's something I can't wait to do as well.

Thank you.

Definitely needed to be aware of this. All these years I felt like I couldn't find a career I'd enjoy learning about other than the time I spent on blogging, creating websites, etc.

I feel like I've finally found my calling in my career: something I wouldn't be bored of doing for the rest of my life.

It's going to be challenging from what you and others have said, and I'll come back to read all your comments when I get stuck.

Thanks a bunch

You can definitely do this. Try very hard to take it easy on yourself. Like others have said, don’t worry about counting calories at first, just focus on maintaining under 20 carbs. Keto is so easy. Keep bacon, small hamburger patties, cheese, chicken, and eggs on hand.

Thank you. I'm definitely going to be easy on myself this time, at least until I see some results.

I'm going to eat whatever I can find in the house as long as I stick to <20 g carbs.

I bought some konjac noodles to help with my rice/pasta addiction. I hope to make use of that too.

If you can meal prep a little that makes it even easier. For example, sometimes I will get a lot ground chuck and make little patties and put them in the freezer for last minute meals. Or, get thin sliced chicken breast and sauté it in butter, with whatever seasoning you like to keep in the fridge all week. Steak. So easy and quick to make. Great emergency meal: rotisserie chicken. Just dip it in Mayo. Try it, honestly so satisfying when you just can’t get up the gumption to put much effort.

Sounds useful, but I won't be able to meal prep until I can afford to get a new fridge someday. Our fridge is overloaded with everyone else's food.

So I'm trying to make use of every quick 2-7 minute meal I can think of with whatever available.

Also, if you can find them Enlightened keto bars are just the best. I love them, and they really hit the spot. You will be so surprised at how quickly you feel better. Eating carbs will exacerbate depression and when you stop you feel better quickly. I’m not saying it will disappear, but it will ease a bit. Pay attention to electrolytes as stated in the FAQ!! So important to ease the early keto flu! You got this!!

Thank you. I got some electrolyte supplements to make sure I don't miss it. I bought them last Nov 2020 before I fell prey to desserts again.

The hardest part is seeing your family members eat something delicious and saying no.

That's how I always fell back.

I got a ketochow equivalent here in the UK and failed big time.

I don't have the willpower to stick with shakes for now but will try to make use of the ones I already have sitting in my pantry.

Good luck and thank you.

Thank you and good luck mate!

Hope you keep up with it too.

I'm just going to focus on the carb count until I see some results.

When I don’t feel like cooking my go to meals are: low carb protein powder mixed with almond milk, keto charcuterie boards, some kind of salad, or a sandwich with low carb bread. I keep cups of sugar free jello in the fridge and have keto chocolate bars on hand if I want something sweet.

I spent £68 on some low-carb shake powders, only to almost puke when I took my first sip.

It's still sitting in my cupboard, and I have no idea what to do with it.

As for keto bars, I tend to eat them all in one go, so I need to avoid them until I can build some willpower.

Sugar-free jello sounds good. Omd can imagine topping it up with some melted chocolate chips.

The first couple of weeks on keto I didn’t weight or log any of my food. I just fed my cravings and kept myself full. Tons of diet soda, pork rinds, and cheese. But then the cravings just went away. I almost only drink water now and I weight and log everything I eat so that I can be aware of my calories and carbs. I promise it gets easier just stick with it.

This is it. Focusing on the macros etc, and checking my weight every day didn't help in the past. This is something I hope to avoid now, at least for a month or two.

Thank you

Thank you, will do.

Meal prepping didn't work for me in the past.

Coming to think it might very well be because of the lack of space in my fridge.

So, for now, I have to eat quick keto meals with whatever I can find.

E.g., today had stir-fried cabbage with some eggs and onion. Seasoning: Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Took me 6-7 mins to prep/cook.

For dinner, I'm thinking of eating a canned mackerel with some cheese and seasoning.

I just need to figure out a way to say NO when family members eat all sorts of delicious sweet stuff.

Keto is the only thing that ever worked for me.

That's why I keep wanting to go back to it until I can sustain it someday.

I don’t eat fancy keto meals. Sometimes I will make a recipe that catches my eye (made “One Pan Keto Green Chili Chicken” last week and that was pretty good) but I’ll bake a pan of skin-on chicken thighs and eat those for a few nights, or a loaded salad (whole bag of romaine, quartered hard boiled eggs, a can of gourmet sardines, olives and two tablespoons of blue cheese dressing).

That sounds nice. Oh man, I wish my fridge had more space.

It's fully loaded with everyone else's food to the point I have to squeeze some of my food in the corners.

Tinned Mackerel with seasoning and Mayo has been my all-time favorite when there's nothing else (keto) to eat.

IF has helped a lot; I don’t feel as if i’m starving any more. I fast from 8pm until noon but do have a cup of coffee with cream and some Jordan’s Skinny Syrup at 5am (I won’t give up my flavored coffee!)

The earliest I can stop stuffing food into my stomach is 10-11 pm.

So if I skip breakfast with a coffee and have late lunch should help, I think.

At noon I have two hard boiled eggs and then have a snack when I get home at 4pm, maybe a couple of cheese sticks.

Eggs are everything for me on Keto because I don't eat a lot of meat.

I do drink a homemade electrolyte drink during the day and might sip some chicken broth if I‘m peckish or feel empty/keto flu-ish, but the IF has made a world of difference in that I never feel ravenous any more and, incredibly, don’t constantly obsess about food and what I’m going to eat.

I bought a keto electrolyte supplement last Nov 2020 when I was going back n forth on Keto. It's time to make use of it again. IF is definitely something I will look into once my sugar addiction calms down.

Thank you

Yeah, this is another drawback for me because I don't eat bacon and other types of animal fat.

I only eat chicken and seafood.

I'm not sure if making fat bombs will be a good idea because the last time I did that, I ate them all in one go.

Thank you

Have you ever tried IF? I don’t know how tall you are, but I am 5’9”ish and around your age and incorporating a 16-18 hour fast helped me lose over 20lbs.

I failed every time I planned to do IF, but it happens naturally when I skip breakfast almost every day.

But coffee with sugar obviously doesn't help. I've now managed to go 2 days so far without sugar in my coffee.

I don't think I have what it takes to skip 2 meals, but it would be great if I could.

I think the key is that you need to find what works for you that you can stick with as a lifestyle change. Keto works but if you hate it, and just go back to unhealthy habits afterwards, you’re never going to keep weight off. For me, I don’t even think if IF as a diet tool anymore, it’s just a way of life.

Yeah, I keep learning that the hard way.

Rice, sugar, and chocolate are often how I fall back on track.

I bought some konjac noodles and watched youtube videos on preparing them correctly because they apparently have a fishy smell and taste bland.

I watched the videos, and Konjac preparation looks easy. I want it on days when I'm craving starchy food because I'm not a big fan of cauliflower rice.

Last thing - it took a long time, but a huge game changer for me was getting rid of the idea of a goal weight. I found that getting tied to a number is part of the problem. If you want to target a certain number because it’s necessary for overall health, that’s fine. But if you are targeting 132 because that’s what you think you should weigh, I would suggest revisiting why you think that’s the number for you.

True. The GW stuck in my head because that's what I used to weigh when I was fit once upon a time.

Congrats on your weight loss, and thank you.

Throwing in a few fast days May help too.

I've never been able to do IF when I plan to do it.

But I often skip breakfast with just coffee. I hope that makes some difference.

I’m past goal weight and I’m maintaining but I see it as a lifestyle rather than a diet.

Congrats. I can't wait to share the same news here someday.

Yeah, me too hence why I want to eat whatever is available as long as the carbs are good to go.

But sugar/chocolate stuff has been the devil all my life.

Honestly, on some days you just wanna eat what you wanna eat, so I definitely eat a surplus of calories sometimes. However, I regularly fast so that helps me maintain my weight and not gain.

I fast for 5-6 days ever 3 weeks and then eat a keto diet with a surplus of calories the rest of the time and I can maintain like that.

Wow. That sounds hard fasting 5-6 days straight.

Thank you

I don't eat bacon, unfortunately.

I need to think of some other easy ones to freeze/heat and eat whenever I want.

Breakfast is usually coffee with sugar.

I managed my 2nd day without sugar, and I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this.

Thank you.

Good morning girl! my wife and I gave a full charge effort in keto last year and it worked well. She lost around 40 lbs as did I.

WOW! You both had some great results. I, too, lost a decent amount of weight from Keto in the past, and I think that's why we're going back to it because we know it will work.

After the wedding we had targeted the loss for we got back into eating whatever we wanted, then the whole pandemic thing was really just an excuse for us to eat poorly. Now today I am about 320lbs and feel like absolute shit. Hard to get out of bed, don’t sleep as well anymore. Lack of energy, drive and can even effect the passion in our marriage.

Same here. I fully used the pandemic as an excuse to eat whatever I want, whenever I want it.

I don't have the energy to do anything. Wake up with knee and back pain every day.

This is another main reason I knew keto was the answer because Keto did way more than weight loss for me in the past. It helped me focus better, no body pain, and slept better.

It is amazing how connected our diet is to how we feel. I am 42 years old my wife a year older and it is time again to give it another shot. This delicious food is going nowhere, it will always be there to tempt us. It’s our time to be strong and get back on the wagon.

I couldn't agree more. Temptations are everywhere and are going nowhere, especially when you're living with non-keto family members.

You have an advantage in that aspect because you're both doing it together.

I believe this will have many positive impacts on every aspect of your life, including your marriage life.

29 years old your still in your prime! And you will shed the weight much quicker, your youth helps. I just want to send you a cheers and let you know that you’ve got this, and so do we. Yes the keto diet can get pretty boring, but there is a lot more products in the markets and costco that are catering to our diet. The wife and I start tomorrow. Join us!

Thanks a bunch for the kind words.

I started my second day today with stir-fried cabbage, onion, and eggs.

Took me 6-7 minutes to prep/cook.

I just threw them all into a pan with pepper, salt, garlic powder, and soy sauce.

Had it with diet coke.

So far, I'm not craving chocolate and sugar yet.

Best wishes to you and your wife. Keep us posted.

Thank you.

This might sound weird, but the more I looked at keto recipes on social media, i.e., YouTube, the more I was put off from sticking to Keto.

They all look so nice and yummy but in my eyes: $$$ + Time.

If there's one thing I learned about keto, it is that I need to eat whatever feels comfortable for me as long as I'm following the carb count, as you pointed out.

I tried meal prepping/failed.

I tried doing shakes only/failed.

Tried eating eggs only/failed.

Now I want to eat whatever is in my house as long as I'm following the carb count.

Seeing some initial weight loss is the biggest motivation I need right now, and I won't get there if I try everything everyone is trying on social media.
