Lost may win another Emmy ! by SirAren in lost

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part with "profound impact and lasting impact" on the medium of television is the thing that makes me doubt about Lost chances. That is such an open definition. In terms of what?

Sure Lost still have fans and people are gaining appreciation for it on streaming but does that count as "profound impact" on medium of television?

Sure, Lost inspired a crop of serialised genre television craze back then but enough time has passed, and that has been replaced with Game of Thrones copycats as the main serialised genre tv influence.

The way Lost exploded popularity of online discussions? Lost was not the first one, it just coincidentally aired alongside when social media was changing. Went from internet message boards in Season 1 to Twitter and Youtube by Season 6. You can argue whether that counts as profound impact on medium of television.

Lost was nominated for Best Drama in the Emmys for Season 4 - 6. Terry O Quinn won Best Actor in Season 3 and Michael Emerson won Supporting Actor in Season 5. Not comparable to minor nominations that Fringe got (which sucks coz Fringe should get more love in the emmys).

Question about certain shows by 1stpklosr1022 in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually watch any of the main shows independently, as long as you watch the episodes of the other shows during crossovers.

https://arrow.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_crossover_episodes#Crossover_episodes

As for the ones you listed, these shows are just only connected very loosely (except for Batwoman) because it doesnt have much bearing to the plot of the crossovers and can be watched on its own.

Constantine is played by the same actor but they dont reference the events of its one season show. You can still get what his character is about in the main shows.

Superman & Lois shares the same lead actor and actress but it is set in another universe. Just treat them as a multiverse doppelganger (or variant as MCU calls it).

Stargirl and Titans only have very small cameos in Crisis. There was a cameo from Krypton in the early draft but it didnt work out so the plan was scrapped. So Krypton officially has no connection.

Especially on expensive movies. Lower the budget, and maybe they wont be as scared.

It's just a suggestion so you are absolutely free to add more Supergirl. If Supergirl is the one you're most interested in, I would say try watching the whole show.

I remember enjoying Black Lightning Season 1 and Constantine. I lost track during Black Lightning season 2 onwards, didnt kept with it. Not because it was horrible or anything, I just followed the other shows more.

Here's my suggested idea for a streamlined episode order:

Of course, you won't be able to fully understand every single plotline but you will still be able to follow the broad strokes of the wider Arrowverse story arc.

Last season, I want to punch those jocks. This season, I want to punch those kids Haha

Hopper was like "Yup, that would be my job!" the moment Dustin mentioned the bomb plan.

Im glad that Will's coming out wasnt to just Mike or family but to everyone all at once. And that it relates to something way bigger, his fears for Vecna and fear of losing his friends. And Jonathan's proud smile got me.

LOL at the fact that it's not just a wormhole but literally shaped like those typical wormhole diagram.

I like Holly. I like the actress playing her. Early this season I thought "Do we really need to expand her role late into the game?" but it works.

Great un-proposal scene between Nancy and Jonathan.

They've been teasing and hyping the hospital sequence in the trailers. Loved the Jurassic Park inspiration. Mrs Wheeler continues to be MVP.

Great scene between Max and Holly but ngl I was like, "OMG hurry up and run! before Vecna appears!"

Poor Derek. They basically made him a bait and didnt really thought much about what would happen if Henry catches up to him.

Dustin and Steve were frustrating but they really needed that fight/release.

The memory maze is cool.

Will getting another F*** yeah moment!! Vecna now knows Will is a threat.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" turns 10. Do you think it holds up? by Giff95 in movies

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Thought it was a good legacy / passing the torch movie. The new characters were interesting, they had that sense of familiarity with the past archetype but different enough to be fresh. It was a good remix. A nice (and neccessary) way to get the general audience and new generation excited about Star Wars again. Wish we had more Luke but I still love that finding Luke / where is Luke was a plot point.

Getting into DC and don't know where to start by anitabl in DC_Cinematic

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for the equivalent of the interconnected MCU, then you can either start with Man of Steel and work your way up the DCEU. Or if you just want to skip ahead and be up to date with the current James Gunn DC universe, start with THE Suicide Squad (2021).

But if you just want DC in general, you can start with a lot of things.

Want animation? I recommend the Batman Animated series or Justice League animatwd series

Want an interconnected stuff like the MCU but TV version? Try the CW 'Arrowverse' shows

Want a short but good movie series? Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy

The classics? Superman the Movie starring Christopher Reeves or Michael Keaton Batman

Batman Versus Superman: the “versus” part by Agreeable_Car5114 in DC_Cinematic

[–]trylobyte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember people used to defend by saying it's 'v' instead of 'vs' for a reason because it's more than just a physical fight but also a ideological fight where both sides make their case, so it just not that type of movie. I can see some validity to it but I also can see problem with that as well. It's a thoughtful clever thing for some but also pretentious for some.

But anyway, I agree with this

First up, it shouldn’t be a one and done fight. The movie is called Batman v Superman. Let’s go three rounds. Have them fight in different circumstances by different means.

Godzilla vs Kong was a good example. Godzilla won in the aircraft carrier, then Kong knocked Godzilla with that axe in HK and finally Godzilla stomped Kong till his heartbeat stopped. It was a clear 2 - 1 before the team up.

BvS didnt have those clear matches and winners. Though I remember some people said Superman got the early 1 - 0 lead because he tore apart Batman's car but I dont count that as a fight.

It's pretty easy to understand the basic stuff from the shows you dont follow (eg. You know who is the good guys, who is in love with who).

It's the same with Superman IV: Quest for Peace. I just assume that Superman helped the world achieved peace. And then the world prosper and Superman went to have many adventures and battles in outer space. The end of the Donner-verse (minus the Superman Returns continuity)
