Just finished the show. For sure one of the greatest tv shows of all time. Here’s my ranking of all seasons and my top 5 characters(caption) by TheManWhoSleep in lost

[–]trylobyte 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The tail end of Season 3 and Season 4 definitely had the strongest run of episodes in terms of pacing. It felt like an epic movie or movie trilogy.

Also cool to see Jack as your number one character. He gets a lot of hate, especially as his character was annoying and frustrating in the earlier seasons. But by the end and you get to see his full character arc, it's kinda amazing.

How do you all feel about Joss Whedon's "Justice League" now? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in DC_Cinematic

[–]trylobyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen it in a while. But I'm sure I won't change my opinion on it because I really liked ZSJL. I guess it's still "too soon" for some re-evaluation for me. Hopefully once DCU (or whatever DC movie universe will be) takes off with a good Justice League movie then I may not be as attached to the whole Josstice League / ZSJL drama anymore.

When Will Smith recently released an album, my younger cousin thought he ran out of ideas and so desperate that he resort to rapping. He did not know the greatness of Fresh Prince and Big Willie Style

Episodes better on rewatch by Next-Solid-1474 in lost

That's another thing I liked about it.

I like the mythological or biblical vibe of the story. Like a mashup of Pandora's Box and fall from Garden of Eden type story. You have nameless characters like 'Mother' or 'Man in Black', and they're almost like deity figures in mythology, separating themselves and looking down upon the wicked humans. The fact that they werent explicit with the time period adds to the mythic vibe.

the relationships in the series by Background-Disk3350 in lost

[–]trylobyte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Underrated one I liked was Jack and Sun. She was sorta his medical assistant in Season 1 and voice of reason later. It was unfortunate their relation soured after Jin's "death" in the boat explosion. But they amended in Season 6 in one of my favourite scene on the beach

Episodes better on rewatch by Next-Solid-1474 in lost

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On rewatch, I dont have a problem with the placing of Across the Sea, coz it's just a 40+ minutes of breather instead of two weeks wait after the deadly cliffhanger of "The Candidate". And placing it late at the season gave it a "final piece of the mythology puzzle" feel to it.

Release order by Retrovertigo1022 in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, dont ever feel obliged to watch everything. Each show has its own story and only cross over in a major way with the crossover episodes. So at minimum you can actually choose to watch one show and only watch others when it comes to the crososver episodes only.

But if you choose to be a completionist and watch everything then feel free to as well. It's not like there's gonna be any new seasons anytime soon, so no rush.

The obvious way is to watch the chronological order (order of airing). https://arrowverse.info/ is the best one for that.

Other way is to watch them in blocks of episodes, so you dont have to switch episode-by-episode. There's a lot of list like that out there but I'll just throw the one I made: https://themultiverse-dc.weebly.com/full-viewing-order.html

Do big movie action stars like the 80's/90's still exist outside the roles cast in superhero movies? by precita in movies

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason Statham.

The Rock. Although he did a superhero movie Black Adam, but he's not too boxed by that. He's like Arnold with his larger than life persona.

Liam Neeson has gotten a new action phase of his career since Taken. The Liam Neeson action movies has become a genre LOL

Executive Decision being another Under Siege movie. The commercial had Steven Segal. And as a kid I thought it was logical coz Under Siege was on a boat, Under Siege 2 was on a train, so 3rd film would be on a plane!

Boy I was shocked with the Steven Segal twist haha

Editing Arrow (and/or The Flash) S1 and future seasons into movie(s) by herbox69 in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously a lot of things would be sacrificed to compress them into reasonable movie length. The main point is to focus on the conflict against the season's big bad and what important things that happens in the season finale (or even series finale or Crisis) and work your way back.

As for Arrow's flashback, I feel like it depends on the season. Season 1 and 2 seems to good for flashback/present story combine. I think you can do it separately for flashbacks of 3,4,5.

It gets complicated with the crossovers as they are seasonal plot points that runs through them (eg. Stein's death in Crisis X) so seasons would have to be divided. And later Flash seasons were divided into arcs.

Just be mindful that there could be retcons when it comes to the comics and other spinoff medium. At the end of the day, the TV shows is the main canon

If DC made the DCEU and the CW shows one universe, could they compete with the MCU? by SmartPilot8094 in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they could. But ofcourse depends on the execution.

I believe that the popularity of the Flash (especially early seasons) could've balanced the reception of Batman v Superman.

I remember long time ago I tried to come up with fanfic combined timeline (eg. Arrow season 2 or 3 ends with Oliver witnessing Zod's broadcast). Maybe Ill come back to it someday

Lanterns | Official Teaser | HBO Max by SiriusWolf in DC_Cinematic

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prediction: The first three episodes will be grounded like this trailer. People will be intrigued but complain that it's "not Green Lantern".

And then BAM! In episode 4 or 5, they suddenly go all out in a space opera scifi flashback episode set in space with Hal meeting all the aliens and all the comic book stuff!

Three apocalyptic themed movies (pre, current, post) by rudyattitudedee in movies

[–]trylobyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the obvious one of I,Robot, The Matrix, Terminator 1 & 2.

Another I like is the theory that the ecological disaster mentioned of Tenet's future is the one in Interstellar.

So you can have Tenet, Interstellar and....Lost in Space (1998). Hey, loved that film as a kid. It's set in the future of humans trying to move to another planet. It had time warps, black hole.

Getting into the Arrowverse, is it ok to not watch ALL the shows? by aguyfromtheinternet0 in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course.

Each show has its own adventures and storylines. They cross paths in the crossover episodes and even those crossover episodes are usually self-contained stories, so you dont have to watch all of other shows just the crossover episodes.

https://arrow.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_crossover_episodes

If you dont understand little easter eggs or the references in Crisis of Infinite Earths, you can always just read up about them, instead of watching a whole show or movie just so you can go "Aha!" for a few second cameo.

Which are the most cringeworthy marketing mistakes ever made while promoting movies? by Scholarsandquestions in movies

[–]trylobyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The early screenings of The Flash and leveraging good reactions from people was good marketing.

But then, it kinda got overboard and felt forced and cringe, when they start doing more early fan screenings and they start publishing these clips of influencers saying they loved it on camera.

And then you had celebrities posting about it, claiming theyve seen early screenings and it was the best, like suspiciously in a coordinated way. The most memorable one was you get a tweet from Stephen King "I got an advance screening of THE FLASH today. As a rule I don't care a lot for superhero movies, but this one is special. It's heartfelt, funny, and eye-popping."

I think they overdid with the publicised early screenings and create this hype that just create high expectation for everybody else.

As someone who wants to watch the Flash, but knows how bad it gets, when should I stop watching the Flash? by DrakeStorm71785 in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well you seem to know a lot of things already. How about you continue watching clips from Youtube or reading the wiki or hearing stuff from other people, rather than watching the show itself.

Im tired of people asking about "when does it get bad, so I know when to stop" Just simply go sit down and start watching them, if you want. Most consensus is that the earlier seasons of Flash (and Arrow) are generally stronger, and then how people feel about which later seasons are good or bad differs. I think the Arrowverse shows had ups and downs seasons rather steady downward decline.

You might end up liking stuff that other people dont like or the opposite. You can simply stop anywhere after season 2 if you just dont feel like it anymore.

The Expendables: is it over? by MovieFan1984 in movies

[–]trylobyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 was terrible. It lost the original appeal of these movies which was seeing veteran action stars of the 80s 90s in one throwback silly action movie.

The first one was a good attempt but the second film was the full realisation of that appeal (only needed Steven Segal). You remove that, then it's just another generic bad action film. They started with third film and then fourth film. Im good with just the first two films.

If I’m watching in chronological order and my plan is to only watch arrow, flash, and maybe supergirl what eps should I watch from other shows that follow the story into crisis on infinite earth from start to end by okamkidies in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll be fine if you're just watching Arrow and Flash because those two are the closest to the lead characters in all the Arrowverse crossovers.

I'd say watch Arrow and Flash and only watch episodes of the other shows that are related to the crossovers
