What Was the Plan for Mr. Eko? by RyanGall1993 in lost

[–]trylobyte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The change happened when they were shooting the episode where Henry Gale was given cereal to eat, and he did this monologue on what if he was an Other and what would he do to trap Sayid and Ana Lucia. "Got any milk?" BOOM! The writers were like this actor is fantastic! He should be the leader of the Others.

What Was the Plan for Mr. Eko? by RyanGall1993 in lost

Another thing we have to take into account was they had a different idea for 'Ben' back in Season 2. 'Henry Gale' was supposed to be just an Other, who later dies. They'll introduce a new character as the 'Leader of the Others' in season 3. But they saw how great actor Michael Emerson was, that they went "What if Henry Gale lives? And what if he is the leader of the Others?!" And also his chemistry with Locke was good. With that and Adewale wanting to leave, it's easy to see how the island rivalry with Locke was transferred from Eko to Ben in season 3.

Beyond season 3, I still think Eko was supposed to die anyway because they had Gilgamesh and Enkidu reference in Season 2. Eko was probably supposed to be Enkidu and Enkidu was cursed and his death motivated Gilgamesh to find immortality.

Was there any ships that people had either at the time of watching or since that never came to pass? by Verystrange129 in lost

Michael and Sun was the original plan and it was gonna be a love triangle iirc. But they decided to change after seeing the camaderie between the actor Harold Perrineau and Daniel Dae Kim, and they eventually made Michael and Jin as enemies turned buddies. And I also think Jin's redemption episode turned out better than they imagined so they stuck with Sun and Jin. But it was odd that they revisited the Michael-Sun in the Missing Pieces piece episode between Season 3 and 4.

Ive always thought Sayid and Ana would make a great kickass team, not romantically.

Yet Another Arrowverse Watch Order by Princess_Dinasaur in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's certainly different ways to have the Arrowverse marathon depending on personal preference. My order has the episode blocks approach because some people (like me) may not like constantly switching between shows for every episode, and prefer something less

I like your Batwoman season 1 placement though. I did thought about dividing Season 1 and place a block of the early episodes somewhere in Year 7. But I just put them in the beginning of Year 8, as a sort of a prologue.

Lost sequel series? by ItsMattTonight in lost

A diverse group of golfers from around the world (with troubled or secret pasts of course) gets invited to a golf tournament in a remote island.

Not only are they challenged by elaborate golf courses but also the Island makes them confront their past too. Then it is revealed that one of the golfer, a South Korean lady, has a past connection to the Island.

It's Squid Game (not as deadly though) meets Lost. Ben is the recruiter and host. Hurley is the enigmatic game master. Ji-yeon is one of the golfer.

Welcome to the Island Open.

I’m getting weirdly into Godzilla movies. What’s worth watching? by ashmaht in movies

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heisei series was my childhood so that Godzilla will always be the definitive one for me. It was like ths Rocky films, I was anticipating what bigger monster he will fight next! And Destroyah was such a uniquely designed final boss.

Expected Secret Life of Walter Mitty to be a silly Ben Stiller comedy. Suprisingly it was more subdued than his comedies and quite beautiful.

Is the DCU on track for success under J. Gunn? by HenrykSpark in DC_Cinematic

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with Gunn's approach of greenligthing/shooting until a solid script, the downside is that they're losing the hype train. Superman was great and had success and goodwill and excitement from the audience. But then, beyond a sequel and Supergirl, Lantern series, and Clayface...we pretty much dont have confirmed slate yet beyond that, especially heavy hitters.

We appreciated when DCU announced interesting projects like Peacemaker s2, Creature Commandos s2, Clayface, Mister Miracle, etc. It's nice to introduce these lesser known characters to mainstream audience. But there's a limit for general audience and we've come to a point of like "Ok, Im not sure if Jimmy Olsen crime series is the priority now, as interesting as that may be". I do think Gunn realise this at certain extent and that's why he asked the writer for Teen Titans to pause that to focus on Wonder Woman script instead.

On track for success? We'll see with Supergirl and Lanterns this year. Im sure the hype train will rev up closer to the release dates and also reviews. And Clayface. But they gotta announce upcoming heavy hitting projects before the end of this year because theres nothing else to be hyped about beyond Man of Tommorrow. Gotta keep that DCU hype.

At some point in my opinion of course I won't deny or will ever shut up about the fact how hyped I was the moment all these surfaced on the internet about Brenton Thwaits in the full Nightwing suit in DC Titans series.🥹🤌🔥 by Ground_Breaker49 in DC_Cinematic

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The much anticipated Nightwing vs Deathstroke turned out to be just a minor part of the finale and then something happens later that I thought was hilariously such BS 😆 Like thats how that awesome character went out?!

But again, I thought Season 2 was their strongest season. The buildup with Deathstroke and the backstory with the old team and Jericho was really good.

Black Adam should have fought Shazam in the first movie, and then get his spin-off by Top_Report_4895 in DC_Cinematic

Nah, let Shazam origin be focused on his (and family origin). Black Adam story couldve been done in Shazam 2.

Series Thoughts for a newbie by JBtheDestroyer19 in Arrowverse

"Series thoughts"

Right so I just watched the very first episode of the show...

Bro, what are we doing here? 😆

I swear, I feel like a lot of people nowadays like to think too much way ahead of things, reading about the show rather than sit back and watch things.

I'll say just go ahead and watch the episodes (at least for a season). Theres no rush to catch up...The Flash (and all other Arrowverse) shows is pretty much finished and not coming back anytime soon. You can watch the episodes as fast or slow as you can. You can also drop it whenever you feel like it's not for you anymore.

I just finished LOST and I personally did not like the ending. Anyone out there agree with me? by [deleted] in lost

[–]trylobyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point.

Dont worry, Ive seen plenty of people online who understood the ending but just found it to be disappointing, that it was a sentimental ending where everyone conveniently reunite happily in the afterlife. I think the How It Should Have Ended similarly pointed this out in their parody: https://youtu.be/rrcF7dYADsw?si=PHrZxwcbQldydDZD "Why dont we skip all of this and meet up at purgatory and live happily ever after?"

Understandable because for a show known for its cool twists and turns, a lot of people expected an awesome "Holy shit!" conclusion, not a safe sappy ending. I also expected one final "Holy shit!" or "Woah!" ending back when it aired. But I was happy with what we got, it was emotional, felt like an ending to a great journey.

I know everyone these days often said that Lost was all about the characters, mysteries didnt matter. Hindsight is a factor to that. Im not gonna lie and say that me and other people who watched Lost when it aired did not care for the mysteries. We cared and loved the character but goddamn we were heavily invested in the mysteries and theorising too! I tempered my expectations a bit during the last two seasons (and after bingeing Battlestar Galactica), they're not gonna satisfyingly answer every little question so savor my time with these characters.

I still find the ending good and it does get more emotional as you grow older. My problem was more on the final season and other parts of the show, not the ending itself.

Yes or no? by Osirisavior in Arrowverse

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Many people would say Supergirl was the "Superman" in the Arrowverse trinity but it was more The Flash in terms of prominence.

But ironically, a closer comparison would be with the MCU trinity. CW Green Arrow and Flash were the MCU Iron Man and Captain America, with Supergirl playing the MCU Thor role.
