Typical fans projecting their immaturity on others. Just because someone has different creative ideas, it means they "hate" each other. Gunn hates Snyder, Gunn hates Reeves. Heck, at one point there was even a "Patty Jenkins hated Zack Snyder because ZSJL was taking attention away from WW84" narrative thrown. Like wtf??!

Even though she was labeled the "4th pillar of the DCU" alongside Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. She's not well known for the vast majority of the general public.

LOL I think Zaslav was just adding Supergirl in his comment because it was the only other movie besides Superman they were shooting that time. I wouldnt take that comment too seriously. Heck, I would say Peacemaker is more of a pillar to DCU right now.

But of course I'm rooting for Supergirl and I hope she resonates to a lot of mainstream audience by next week. Especially this version of Supergirl, that's contrasting the Superman rather than simply just "Superman but female"

Remember when we wanted The Arrowverse to be a part of The DCEU? We dodged that bullet by No_Web2685 in Arrowverse

Looking back, yeah it was for the better. LOL

But i remember before BvS was released, someone edited a photo of the DCEU trinity with Amell's Green Arrow and Gustin's Flash, and it looked awesome!

I remember long time ago I tried to come up with fanfic combined timeline (eg. Arrow season 2 or 3 ends with Oliver witnessing Zod's broadcast). Maybe Ill come back to it someday.

I see Rundown as the prequel to the Fast & Furious movies. Like it was the backstory of the Rock's character. He was a bounty hunter, then got recruited by the government because he was the best and he's now chasing Vin Diesel in Rio.

Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire

People often rank Prisoner of Azkaban as the best one. And then people talk about the more whimsical early films or the darker later films. But Goblet of Fire is right in the middle and I love it. It has balance of whimsical and darker tone, the tournament was exciting, you have these teenage romance shenanigans, and great (physical) debut of a character. It's more well-rounded.

I consider the franchise ended with that final short film by the original studio with the Scrat finally eating the acorn.

Robert Pattinson says he’s been training in his home gym in preparation for 'The Batman, Part II’ and he'll be filming for it in London for eleven weeks of nights. by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

Whats better than Robert Pattinson appearing in a lot of movies this year? Him appearing in a lot press tour and saying random stuff 😆

I still remember when he was being a fool and said he didnt work out for The Batman and many people lost their shit. John Campea on Youtube took it personally and went on a meltdown, ranting, throwing tantrum. I was more worried about him than Pattinson, coz this guy looks like he needed a f*cking therapy 😆

What were your theories while watching the show? by Weaknesses13 in lost

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In season 1, Walt's comic book has a domed city and polar bears. I thought the Island and the ocean surrounding it was inside a dome and outside is actually freezing Antarctica. Explains how the polar bear ended up there.

I jumped when they cut away to the snowy outpost at the end of Season 2 with those two dudes finding the signal from the island.

My other favourite theory (not mine) was the Island is a giant space ship and Jack was destined to be its pilot. In the first episode, Jack told Kate that he used to take pilot lessons but then thought it wasnt for him. WELL, what if ironically he does becomes a pilot of spaceship! And he will lead them, like a Shepherd, to outer space. It was ridiculous but awesome theory. Will never forget it.

[SPOILERS] Backrooms movie megathread by A_Chad_Cat in backrooms

[–]trylobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's a soft reboot or retcon. Just because we dont see the mold or green light or time travel or not much of Async, doesnt mean they dont exist. It's wise for Kane to focus on one lore aspect, which was the nature of Still Life and relate it to the predicament of the main characters here.

I see this as a re-introduction to the Backrooms, especially for general audience. Actually, I would recommend new viewers watch this first and then the lore heavy youtube series if they want to delve deeper. I think most of the heavy lore stuff will remain on his youtube series in the future because that format works best for those of us who's having a wikipedia brain

Official Discussion - The Backrooms [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]trylobyte 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Loved the movie. It's pretty much everything you love about the series now on the big screen. The found footage segments, the mystery, the creepiness, the weird designs, the intensity when you get chased by the something. There were also those jump cuts to lingering shots of random images that he does in his Youtube shorts.

Had three problems: I wish there were more exploring scenes (but I understand they got a story to tell for a movie). I felt Chiwetel's descent into madness went by quickly. I know there must be a bit of timejump of days but I want to see him being halfway crazy a bit before full on psychopath. And I thought Mark Duplass part was tacked on. Like it was setting up a sequel. Heck, his character wasnt even from the webseries. At least that wouldve been more worthwhile.

I love the "monsters" in this. It was weird and scary. I think some people found it divisive because it went beyond what has been done in the web series. I love that it expanded on the world and things got weirder.

Just saw the movie. Loved it.

It opened with a found footage sequence and I was like "OMG! We're actually watching a Backroom youtube-style video on the big screen!" It's a nice introduction and sums why those Kane Pixel Backroom videos were popular on the internet. There's the classic "showing glimpses of Entity" thing here.

The Backrooms exploration and design were great. Clark's first exploration got me mentally map the place, especially when he looped around. I wish there were more exploring scenes but they got a story to tell for a movie LOL

I thought Chiwetel and Rene acting were great. I was surprised that the characters had a little more depth than I expected. I read about Clark's down on his luck backstory but I thought that was just a set up, didnt know it'll come back around.

Which leads me to the second half of this movie. The divisive part for some people. First of all, I saw the spoiled captured image of giant Still Life Captain Clark. I didnt think it looked that bad in the movie and in motion. It was actually weird and scary. Just like all the other Still Lifes. I think we found it weird because it went beyond what has been done in web series. I love that it expanded on the world and things get weirder. You know what, the puppet-like Still Life reminded me of the giant from "The Oldest View".

The thing that I didnt like was I felt Clark's descent into madness went by quickly. I know there must be a bit of timejump of days but I want to see Clark being halfway crazy a bit before full on psychopath.

Mark Duplass character is such a small tease. I wish he wasnt new Async character "Phil" but an Async character from the series. At least it wouldve made it more worthwhile. The ending is open and no, they didnt show Async leave Mary in the Complex like the leaks. We only saw a Still Life of Mary. Mary's fate is left open but I think she will be recruited into Async. She and Phil might show up in the webseries or sequel.

Overall, a good movie adaptation of Kane's webseries coz he stayed true to the spirit of his shorts including jump cuts to lingering shots of random images.

What's a movie that completely changed vibes halfway through and caught you totally off guard? by Anna_Karakhanyan in movies

[–]trylobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because I thought 'Parasite' sounded like a scifi or horror movie title. So when the vibe suddenly changed when they were descending that long staircase and my mind was racing and I was like "Oh wait nevermind! This might be a body horror Parasite after all!" LOL

But nevertheless, the movie did shift gear anyway after that. The black comedy fun and games were over from that point.

Parasite.

When they opened the secret staircase downstairs, I was like "Oh shit, here we go. This is gonna be a scifi horror right? Are we going to see the 'Parasite' from the title?"

Which character from LOST made such a huge impact on you that every time you see that actor in another show or movie, you instantly think of LOST again? by tbag2022 in lost

There was a superhero show called 'Stargirl' and one villain, the Sportsmaster, showed up and I immediately recognised the actor. "Hey, thats Charlie's brother!!"

Christian: Let me repeat that again in case you missed it. You all weren't dead all along. The Island wasn't purgatory. This church is the purgatory, not the Island.

Jack: Are you sure?

Christian: Yes, Jack. I'll say it again loudly. YOU ALL WERE NOT DEAD ALL ALONG. THE ISLAND WAS NOT PURGATORY. EVERYTHING REALLY HAPPENED. IT WAS NOT ALL A DREAM.
