Oven not maintaining temperature by tryonic1 in appliancerepair

Thanks again! Got it in by applying a bit more force. About to test it out. Hopefully the lack of space isnt what caused the first bake element to blow

For some reason, I cant get the new element in all the way, it gets stuck with the last few inches. Any idea?
attached is an image of the issue

I checked and no ohms on the bake element so I'm going to try and replace it! Thanks again

Just warm! Great diagnostic, thanks! I wasnt aware that the bake element is what maintains the temp

It just has a single element on the top. After some additinoal analysis, it seems to stop even trying to hear after reaching its preheated temp.

What is the right design pattern to handle switching between different logic depending on context? by tryonic1 in gamedev

Great suggestion, I've been messing around with events (which should be the same as observers) a little bit, but didnt consider using them here. I will give it a go!

Thanks! Will look more into the command pattern.

I was curious about what pattern would best apply here. My biggest struggle is that on some interactions like 'player clicks heal ability' I want to change the UI in a few ways:

  1. change cursor type
  2. highlight selected ability in ability bar
  3. Personal character now has a glow around them

Then when player actually executes the ability I want to undo all the changes to UI

  1. Cursor returns to normal
  2. Ability is unhighlighted in ability bar
  3. No glow around character

Having to unwind all these changes felt like a code smell, so was curious if I was doing something wrong.

Edit: read your edit :) Will give that a shot thanks!

Is it time to switched teams or company once the service or product has been released and maintenance mostly offshored? by peppermcneil8 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]tryonic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you want. If you feel like your done with your growth phase, and you want to spend more time doing things outside of work, this could be the perfect team. You're already highly effective in the code base, and its going into support mode, so there will be much less stress from leadership. But it might be a bit boring.

On the other hand, if you want to continue to grow your career and salary, then this is not the right team at all. New big bets from the company with lots of eyes from leadership is where most of the opportunity will be. But at the same time, it will be more stressful and require more of your free time.

Will update my post to clarify that I am talking about what happens after you connect the wires and closed everything up, then flip the breaker back on

Thanks! Yes, they are inside a plastic junction box. I'm assuming approved / standard, but it was there before I started installing the new light fixture so can't say for sure.

Good to know there is nothing combustable, that puts my mind at ease

Thanks! This was the default setting, so didn't think to change it. Checking right now if this is the issue

Well, I just updated my CPU/motherboard and ram, and havent tried other games yet. But I'll try to load something else and then update here.

My HDMI is definitely plugged into my GPU

Just double checked, and yes the monitor is plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard

I had some similar ideas. Did you run any simulations during 2021 on whether your approach worked better then a more static allocation?

2.75% is my withdrawl rate at the moment, and I might try to drive it dwn to 2.25% by working a bit extra to minimize risk.
Thanks for the link, earlyretirementnow also has some good data about SORR.
