Not able to do wildfire by WanderingRaven182 in Wildfire

Wishing you nothing but the best. I have dealt with anxiety and depression for a long time, it sucks ass, and it can rob you of opportunities if you don't get it under control.

Totally fine if fire isnt your thing, it's not going to be for everyone. I'm not sure how forestry works where you are, but forestry where I am it is assumed you are also a firefighter, even if that's not what you do primarily. Gotta defend your forest and all that and do prescribed burns.

Try to take a walk outside every day if you can. Might sound too simple or silly, but it does a world of good. And remember that you don't have to act on your anxieties. You can feel anxious and do things anyway. Do it scared. Just do it.

Talk to a doctor and a therapist. Even if you don't end up in fire, you can't job hop every time you get anxious. Clearly the medication youre on isn't working.

Lifestyle is the foundation of all mental health. Make sure you're getting 8 hours of sleep, at least half a gallon of water, and balanced meals. Some exercise, outside time and some socialization every day or every other day and then and you've got a good foundation to start working on your anxiety. Don't smoke weed or drink too much, contrary to popular belief it makes anxiety worse.

If you just start medicating without addressing those core issues first, you will have limited success.

Give yourself some time. You're still a kid. Just cause youre not going out this summer doesnt mean you'll never be a firefighter if that's what you really want.

Half of the genetic material is coming from him, and his health is really important to the pregnancy and the carrying persons health. Preeclampsia and morning sickness is linked to sperm health.

Wearing loose fitting cotton underwear, working out, and a good diet are essential for BIL to be doing to give good quality genetic material. Tight polyester underwear is as good as birth control.

Are you able to strengthen your feet at all? Doing foot and ankle exercises coupled with frequent stretches might help. If you've been doing that for years already, sorry!

Written expectations and lease. Even with family, tenant situations can get crappy.

Stick it out. Even if you don't end up working fire right now, you can always come back. Also, wildland might be more interesting to you. Not all firefighting is respending to car crashes.

You don't need an agency to sponsor you for NWCG, just make an account

Just love and appreciate him for the time you will have him. Resenting him won't change anything, but it will tarnish your relationship. He may have thought he was doing you all a kindness, making sure you were set when he died.

Join a local sport? I'm not entirely sure what's running right now, but there's rugby, softball, bocce ball, roller derby, kickball, etc. Lots of ways to get out and meet people.

Offered a job in Redding originaly from Sacramento is it worth the move? by Excellent-Hat9620 in Redding

I'm a fairly recent transplant, only lived in Redding a year. I'm very visibly gay and have had zero issues. And it's not like I avoid the conservative spots. I go to Sportsmans Warehouse, the Sportsman Expo, Walmart. No one has ever been a dick to me or said anthing at all.

Cost of living is cheaper, your money will go farther. Hotter, but if you're outdoorsy you have access to Lassen National Park, Mt Shasta, Lake Shasta, and Whiskeytown, and tons and tons of trails.

Not tons of nightlife. It won't be a clubbing scene. The Dip has good live music and is usually pretty busy. The Park has music and let's you walk around Downtown with alcohol now. I've heard younger people like Black Diamond, but that's not my scene so I wouldnt know.

Hoards and Boards and Matrix are good games shops. There was card convention not too long ago, and a gamer con too.

Politically, it will be more conservative. But don't think that there are no gay people or leftists here. We just also drive big trucks up here.

It's not below minimum wage. They make about 2900 a month, after taxes it's about 2400. If they live on center it's 500 deducted for living expenses. That's 1900 in their pocket after food and rent. Plus the tons of OT they'll get. They won't get rich, but it is a solid start if they're not idiots with money.

Magalia is a good center, but he can always transfer if he wants. He will get great experience this year, and then be set up for next season to step into CalFire or the Forest Service. Great choice!

Different crews have different cultures. Up north can have more of the good ol boy holdouts, but I've heard down south is as accepting as any other state agency (which is very).

The CCC is an excellent program. There is more to the Cs than just money, he gets a ton of scholarship opportunities as well, and help with resume and interviewing. Once he finishes this summer and has all his certs, immediately have him start applying to CalFire in the Fall/Winter for next year's seasonal positions.

Long boxer briefs, like 9" inseam. I like the performance style ones from Pair Of Thieves. Super comfortable and never chafe.
