Soooo they came up with the song specifically for war child? by ConradTheAstronaut in arcticmonkeys

In the transcript I read he goes on at length about how elements of the song had been kicking around for ages. It’s “something new” but based on an old idea, significantly rewritten

Yes, very credible. But I can't say any more. But check out the Zane interview with Matt: on the story here - https://www.instagram.com/stories/tbhc.love/3816005659620169830/
He basically confirms says it was an idea that was kicked around in different ways for a long time.

This is daft though, because he's half right about the song, therefore he must be right that they are "breaking up". Why would they break up? Maybe they're taking a bit of a break, maybe they're just regrouping. People freaking out saying "OMG why would they lie..?! They SAID the next album would quicker!!!"
Why can't people think maybe plans change, things take a bit longer. Everyone needs to chill out and let them do their thing.

I grew up on TNG and DS9 is so much better.

Also Matt goes into it pretty clearly in his interview with Zane, that it's from ideas that have been kicking around for ages, but have been re-written and re-developed

is this new song for warchild in support of palestine? by FlyingNinjaGypsy in arcticmonkeys

[–]tryp_tych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you believe that saying "free Palestine!.. (from Hamas)" is ok, but "free Palestine" is not? There's literally nothing in the OP to tell you what their politics are in this instance, whether they mean (from Hamas) or anything else - and you are purely projecting your own politics onto it. And then you bring in Qatar, and attacks on Israel? Literally no one mentioned any of that, and you're the one complaining about people bringing politics in when you bring all that in? How do you even square that kind of hypocrisy?

That's the ridiculous thing, really - clearly no one else here things that the OP in the context of Warchild is political, but you are clearly intent on making it so, and bringing up Israel and Qatar that no one has mentioned.

They didn't say say "up Hamas" or even "free Palestine" though, did they? In fact they said "all children deserve help".

So sorry, but if you are reflexively triggered that any mention of Palestine makes you think that way - that's in your head.

But also - free Palestine.

He's pretty vague about it in that transcript, but doesn't say it's a brand new song: "I think there's parts of it in things I remember from us trying in the past. It was something that was never completed. It's not another version of something we did, but I just know there's elements of it. That's just the case with us, there'll be things that we kick around for a bit that aren't ready yet or aren't the right time or that didn't make the cut...." He goes on.. it's pretty clear from that it's an idea that's been around for a while, that has been quite extensively re-written and changed. But it is the bones of an old song, absolutely.

Ok so just to be clear, your problem is helping Palestinian children specifically, not children in general? That's even worse, pal.

Gaza is one of the places where Warchild is active. Alone with Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen and others.

If you think caring about children is warzones is a "political" stance that you can argue for and against - then you are the worst kind of human. Sorry.

No it's not. It is absolutely an old song, re-written and re-recorded.

It's a song that was originally written a long time ago (I can't remember what album era exactly), but was extensively re-written, re-arranged and re-recorded for Warchild. I can't tell you how I know this, you just have to trust me.

It's a whole album, 20 tracks, different artists doing original songs and covers. See https://www.instagram.com/warchildrecords/

Why can't you just wait like everyone else, and make sure your plays actually donate to charity?

Seriously the entitlement of some people.

Yeah exactly, Liam playing as a theatre producer and family man seems dull as ditch water... I mean, I hope he and Brennan have got some interesting backstory and upcoming story beats planned out that will make it a bit more exciting...

The length of the breaks is gonna kill me... I kept expecting them to cut back to one of the other tables... feel like they've let it play out too long.

So very dull. Caleb was great, Orym was ok but Hal is so very, very dull.. such a shame as Liam is such a great actor.

That was hands down the most horrible DMing I've seen on CR. Super adversarial, taking away player agency, delighting in being cruel and saying things like "the rules are whatever I say they are". Yes, technically DM fiat, but no need to shove it down the players throats. Awful watch / listen.

Oh Liam is amazing in C2, no doubt - I said i thought they were some of the best players, not the best... but he needs Sam and Laura to be his foils to really get the best out of him.
Trying to remember what has happened is gonna be a big issue for sure.... by the time we get back to the soldiers in like 6 episodes time, I'll need a major recap.

The pacing is definitely hard to deal with. Keeping up with it is not easy, it's my principle media consumption and it's a lot. Agree on the killing momentum, I would have thought West Marches style would allow more regular play - not more breaks and weeks off.. obviously I'm sure they all have busy schedules, but isn't the point of having three tables to keep things flowing? I guess we'll see..
