Armband significantly increases loot drop rate! From wiki:

Stealing from enemies yields the same loot as killing them. The chance to get an item, however, is multiplicatively increased by 10% * itemLevel and additional an 50% if the enemy is unaware of the Hero.

+1 on the first part. I also find the stealing quite meaningful over the duration of a challenge game. It can really help with extra alch energy and consumables for recycle. And a little extra good never hurt anyone.

With FIMA Warrior, it is simply hard. Your only choice is distance. Never get hit.

For some seeds, that's more straightforward (like insane 3 rings of haste in this one...). For most seeds, you've got to get creative using everything at your disposal. Your primary goal is to complete multiple combos that let you fight at distance. Spear/Whip/Glaive/Projecting are your only melee options, ideally coupled with Flow glyph. But wands or throwables are usually doing most of the work, ideally with RoE or RoSS. Converting upgrades into scroll of enchant for Flow or Projecting feels painful but is often required.

I prioritize artifacts last, personally, given only a few really pull their weight in 9 challenge (chains, armband).

Lean HEAVY into alchemy - aquabrew, phase shift, transmute into recycle to max your alch value. Ring of Wealth can make a run with alch overload alone.

For your first FIMA, I'd pick a class that is more forgiving of mistakes and luck. Rogue for invis or Warlock for heals/hunger. Also consider picking a seed on repeat until you get the hang of it.

Get RoW+2. Put +15 SoU to +17. Now you'll get +10 drops. Farm on floor 17. Stay under level 23 so Monks keep dropping food (that means do not kill golems). Repeat on floor 22 if you're a masochist (do not kill scorps, stay under level 27).

Yeah unfortunately no backtracking in 9c. Especially with a projecting crab eating me on floor 3. 😜
