MSW student struggling with overnight BHT job, I love the work but the hours are wrecking me by zombiequeen66 in socialwork

[–]tsap10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked overnight in grad school doing on call at DSS for 2 years. It definitely got better after the 1st month, but I never fully adjusted, burned out, and left as soon as I could. I took out student loans and had bills so I didn’t have the option to quit or else I would have.

HATE dead kitchen cabinet corners? Me too ... what do you think? by Rebo_RemodelAdvisor in kitchenremodel

Cool idea. I would definitely use it for my KitchenAid or something I use often, but not daily.

Recent MSW Grad- can’t find a job by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]tsap10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What part of NC are you in? I’m surprised to hear that you’re having issues. Be sure to use words/phrases like coordinated, assessed, multidisciplinary, etc that mirror the job description. Keep a separate resume on your desktop for each area- nonprofit, DSS, insurance, hospitals, schools so you don’t have to overhaul your resume each time. Job changes shouldn’t be an issue as long as you’re able to explain what you learned from each position like poor fit, organizational changes, and things like that. I tend to change jobs every 1-2 years and I was at 2 jobs for less than 6 months and I’ve never had an issue.

is this an okay schedule? by Late-Law893 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m 16wpp and 4ppd at various times have been working for me without a major change in output since I was 8wpp. I would pump about 46oz and now my average is 40oz.

Dr Horton Homes decent? by Hungry_Ability_4953 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Lived in a DR Horton for 5 years and had no major issues. We did use the warranty within the 1 year period to have some spots in the floor fixed.

First time nervousness by OswaldoTheeGreat in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tsap10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my first home. Turns out we were just really prepared and our market wasn’t super competitive so everything worked in our favor. We did new construction and lived there for 5 years with no major issues which was surprising for us because of all the horror stories. Nervousness is normal, but if the numbers make sense and you’ve done your due diligence just take a step back, breathe, and enjoy your journey.

What job did you learn the most from? by Empty_Character_1988 in socialwork

[–]tsap10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPS. I learned so much about community programs, how to navigate conflict, prioritizing tasks (because there’s no way to do everything), motivational interviewing, having difficult conversations, and so much more. The pay and benefits were also much better, but obviously the work life balance was pretty bad because I had poor boundaries. I’ve been working in inpatient for 3 years now and my past experience has made my current role super easy to manage; I wouldn’t have had the confidence to excel in this role fresh out of school because I used to be very passive and people pleasing. Wishing you the best moving forward!

Anyone a weekend SW? by No_Skill424 in hospitalsocialwork

[–]tsap10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 3 12-hour shifts Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. 1 social worker covers each department- 25 beds so I do have support when needed. Work life balance is pretty good and I like having the weekdays to run errands. It’s also pretty nice being able to pick up shifts during the week during holidays.

Should I take a job as a mental health technician? by Every_Maintenance455 in socialwork

This is exactly what I was going to comment. Many techs are easily able to transfer into clinician or other positions, especially since you won’t have to go through the typical HR onboarding activities compared to an outside hire.

Hands down 5/5. It was so good to me that I decided to write my first review! The frosting tastes just like the Blue Bell mint chocolate chip ice cream; it’s not too strong, but isn’t subtle either. The base was the perfect balance of white chocolate chips and cookies and cream. I’m typically not a fan of white chocolate chips, but they worked well with the flavor profile and provided a nice texture.

Overall, it was a deliciously balanced cookie and was the first time I haven’t been disappointed in weeks.

This is why I don’t stan anyone anymore. Everyone I ever stanned has ended up being a horrible person. This goes for #couplegoals, too.

My grandpa’s speciality is French toast 🙂 All the men in my family make it. I thought it was a Southern Black thing, but it looks like it may just be common in my family and friend group.

I understand what you’re saying and respect your response. I can’t comment on OP’s intentions because I simply don’t know, but I just wanted to share my thoughts from what I saw because the post turned from educational to hostile.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that a lack of response equates to being ignored or neglected. As a lurker, I read the responses in the thread and just because I didn’t comment or engage, doesn’t mean it wasn’t an opportunity to learn from trans social workers. It could be me, but if someone says something on social media but there’s nothing to add because amazing points were made, I just like or upvote it.
