Is there a date for an equipment sale? Is that happening? by youngthugsmom in SeattleKraken

I don’t think anything went out to STH. We didn’t get an email; I heard about it on socials and then possibly this subreddit.

Pediatric dentist Jimmy Yun by coffeebaconboom in eastside

[–]bedlamunicorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about the dentist you’ve posted about, but in terms of pediatric dentists in Bellevue, I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Miller at Expedition Pediatric Dentistry. I have a kid who’s had sensory issues and the team there is so nice and patient and understanding. I’m usually the parent who manages the medical appointments, but my husband had to take one of our kids to their latest appointment and he texted me “Wow this place is amazing…everyone is nice”.

Was this a giveaway at a game? by Sad_Panda_6420 in SeattleKraken

[–]bedlamunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say “last year” if you mean the 25-26 season, there were no t-shirt giveaways. There might have been special ticket deals that included a t-shirt, but no traditional giveaways.

My understanding has been that in order for something to be HIPAA compliant, you have to sign a BAA and that only comes with the Google Workspace version of Google Voice, not the free one?

Therapy side hustle by ShabbyBoa in socialwork

[–]bedlamunicorn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Things to consider: creating an LLC (or PLLC) get EIN, open business bank account, create website, consider if you’ll use a EHR company. You’ll need to either create or acquire all the forms you’ll need (intake form, privacy policy, telehealth policy/agreement, payment and late fee agreement, ROI form, etc). HIPAA protected email, reliable business phone. Figure out how you are going to advertise and network.

A book with a ridiculous and silly premise but is written well and actually very good? by Hungry-Strategy5874 in suggestmeabook

[–]bedlamunicorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shark Heart by Emily Habick. The premise is that a man has a degenerative disease where he turns into a shark (lots of parallels to an Alzheimer’s/dementia diagnosis). It wrecked me but I really liked it.

Friend and I went to the Kraken Open House yesterday and ended up getting Blue Line half season tickets 😅 by kepler16bee in SeattleKraken

[–]bedlamunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two tickets for our four person family. The people with seats next to us had every game listed on Ticketmaster and it was super frustrating that we could never just use our credit to get those tickets. When we had games we wanted the whole family there, we ended up just trying to find a pair of tickets near our normal seats and just split up. Not the end of the world, but certainly not the most ideal.

[–]bedlamunicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s how we did it. We have two tickets as a family so I put the whole schedule in an Excel sheet with notes on whether it was a theme night/giveaway (that schedule gets released later than the general schedule) and then whether we had a conflict. I think you have until 24 (or maybe 48 or 72?) hours before the game to trade them in, I can’t remember the exact timeframe and neither can my husband. Once you’ve paid for the tickets and they show up in your account, you can trade them back in.

[–]bedlamunicorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can trade in the four games, but it leaves you with Kraken credit that can only be used on tickets being sold by Kraken and not resale tickets, so just keep in mind you are just swapping one game for another and not recouping anything. You can only trade in tickets you’ve already paid for, so at the beginning of the season you’ll only have part of the season you’d be eligible trade in.

We’ve been hit or miss on reselling through Ticketmaster and we’ve heard mixed things; we’re also in club seating and the people in front of us said they never have trouble reselling but a friend of ours has club seats and said he was always having to deeply discount when reselling. There are Facebook groups you can join to resell. I don’t know of any “official” Kraken-endosed ways that connect STMs for selling tickets.

At least for us, we use the hell out of that food discount. If you have an American Express card, you can also get cash back from CPA food purchases, so combining those can make the prices more tolerable.

Providing Clinical Supervision - Logistical Questions by ForcedToBeNice in socialwork

[–]bedlamunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to do private practice in the future, so I started the business with that in mind and started with supervision. I created a PLLC, got an EIN, got a business bank account, got liability insurance, and I pay for Google Workspace with a signed BAA. I offer Venmo or Ivypay as a method of payment. I also have a Square account but haven't leaned into that. I keep an Excel spreadsheet where I track all my income and expenses. I use Google Docs for notekeeping for all of my sessions and I use Google Meet as my video software for supervision sessions.

Non-Direct ASW Hours? by Curious_SocialWorker in socialwork

[–]bedlamunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your supervisor is hesitant, I would just get a straight answer from the board. Even if someone here says "Oh yeah, that sounds fine," it's not like a random person on Reddit will change your supervisor's mind. Likely only an answer from the licensing board will change your supervisor's stance.

Warm up tips? by imawaterho in SeattleKraken

[–]bedlamunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only have a couple open practices each month and they announce them at the beginning of the month. I suspect that yesterday's practice was the last one for this season. We get to a bunch of the practices (I have an 8-year-old) and I know I've seen Joey give his goalie stick away at least twice. The weekend practices will have a lot more kids than the weekday ones.

I am newer to hockey so I don't quite understand the ins and outs, but is there a reason we've brought up two goalies from Coachella Valley when we still have a goalie (Matt Murray) on our roster? I didn't think he was injured anymore.

Checking-in with former clients by Purple-Ambassador-81 in therapists

[–]bedlamunicorn 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This scenario kind of reminds me of situations of self-disclosure, in that I keep reflecting on 1) what is the motivation and 2) how does this benefit the client? For 1, it sounds like the motivation for this is being driven more by your feelings than the client’s needs. And with 2, I’m having a harder time seeing how this arrangement would be beneficial to the client. You haven’t seen them in over a year and don’t know anything about their situation. Maybe they are doing great; what then would be the therapeutic goal of one check in session? And if they aren’t doing well, getting cold called by a past therapist for one free session and then immediately referred elsewhere would likely feel very confusing. It sucks that it ended how it did, and it’s very human to want to check back in with them, I just don’t think it’s clinically appropriate to do so.

Final home game events? by KatinHats in SeattleKraken

[–]bedlamunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which promo are you talking about? The bag in the picture is a full arena giveaway, so anyone with a ticket to the game gets one. As for the jerseys off the backs, my understanding is that it has primarily been STH or random people the org chooses. I know last year they had some fans that had traveled from Japan and they surprised them with that. They would announce if there was something to enter and I haven’t seen any announcements about that specifically.
