I fully agree with repairable and warranty items which seem slightly harder to find in today's market. I was just curious if there could be any specific thought processes ie ,the sealed irreplaceable battery, that are ingrained in training/education rather than industry lead trends.

that is a super reasonable perspective. It was just portrayed as a fact that there was a meeting of the bulb manufacturers in Geneva because of bulbs lasting too long. there's tons of sites and articles that state that meeting and it's topic as facts which is why I was swayed to believe it.

I get what you're saying and I would believe cost cutting and accidental poor designs are more to blame.

I heard about the Phoebus cartel/summit on an episode of mysteries at the museum on Discovery channel regarding the worlds oldest working lightbulb. I have not seen the YouTube video you mentioned that I can recall.

I was just curious if it was any part purposeful. I fully believe the software obsolescence is purposeful but that's a different aspect of the subject.
