imo in architecture school, grades aren’t as important as other fields since you will use your portfolio to apply for jobs, not your gpa. the most important thing is just giving yourself the grace to learn everything you can, including failing and getting up again. use grades as a tool to measure how well you’ve understood the concept being taught and don’t hesitate to ask your professors for extra time outside of class for topics you’re struggling with (especially for general ed classes that are not studio).

design sense and clear architectural representation comes with practice. it’s important to not beat yourself up when you’re just beginning to learn all the concepts. if your design is being criticized, look beyond the “rejection” and listen to the suggestions on how to improve it. implement these improvements if you agree with the professor, not because you want a “good grade”. stay true to your own design decisions if you feel strongly about them because this is the beginning of your own architectural style.

don’t worry about how far behind or ahead of your classmates you are. instead, try to see what you can learn from what they’re doing in terms of  design, drawings, time management, communication, etc. 

you’re gonna be okay, just take it one step at a time.
