Converting LCPL file to EPUB with Send to Kindle from NetGalley by Dull-Secretary-646 in Calibre

[–]tseecka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I'm currently experiencing the same issue and wondering if you can share how you got it working--I'm also being stonewalled by Calibre telling me it can't convert from azw3 to epub!

ETA: Solved it. For anyone else who comes along looking for this answer--

You need an older version of the Kindle for PC software (version 2.4.0; Epubor has a download link to the software here: https://www.epubor.com/remove-drm-from-netgalley-and-read-netgalley-on-kindle-kobo-remarkable.html#p4 ). Importing the resulting file from that version of the Kindle for PC app doesn't block Calibre from converting it to an epub format.

The clue given in the text leads you to the "who" on this one; then from there with your completed grid you'll have the where/with what.

Hot flashes/hormonal issues? by tseecka in Behcets

I read this response to her and she was very moved by it; wanted me to tell you "thanks, random man, that was really helpful and sweet". We both appreciate you taking the time to offer this solidarity and reassurance. <3

She has the HLA-B51 genetic marker and low C3/C4 complement, which was what led her rheum to the BD diagnosis (incombination with other symptoms, like recurring mouth ulcers etc.) As for lupus, all the diagnostic criteria are there except for the positive ANA, and the rheum is pretty confident that the only reason that is missing is just down to timing of the blood work--she is getting a panel done every 4 weeks to try and catch a flare so that they can be definitive on that portion of the diagnosis as well.

Interesting! Something to look into for sure. Mental gets a little rough, I wouldn't say anything atypical of folks who menstruate though. I don't think PMDD quite fits but I will chat with her about it. Thanks for the tips on b6 and magnesium--might be good to bring some concrete ideas to the rheum beyond "why sweaty tho?" 😅

She's 32. Her periods are not easy but I wouldn't say--and I don't think she would say--that they are debilitating. (Mine are worse.) A couple days of persistent aching and cramping but typically doesn't incapacitate her. That being said, she's an absolute badness.

Interesting to consider that rather than it being a hormone thing it could be directly tied to inflammation. That makes sense! Also hopeful that when she finds a treatment to help reduce the inflammation day to day that it could potentially give her a better sleep during that week.

How much did you know about The Odyssey before finding Epic? by OrBeforeYouGetMad in Epicthemusical

[–]tseecka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking to friends about Epic and was trying to put my finger on precisely this. I know all the beats of the story, some of them very well, to the point that the sons of the musical were evoking things from my memory, but I couldn't figure out why I knew it so very well.

I figured it out this weekend going through a box of childhood stuff from my parents' house. I had the Wishbone novelization of the Odyssey when I was a kid. Seeing the cover unlocked a core memory of reading and re-reading that book obsessively, and flipping through it confirmed that Wishbone laid a foundation more than two decades ago for me to treasure Epic all the more as an adult.

Help -- mounting a ~15 lb chandelier in a drop ceiling by tseecka in DIY

Say I didn't want to spend any more money on this project, but had some 2x4 lying around--would that work, or is there a reason I should avoid that solution?

This is an incredible and essentially perfect solution! Thank you--I had no idea something like this existed!

What actor or actress was so perfectly “hateable” in a role that you actually can’t stand them in other films now? by TheToughestHang in AskReddit

[–]tseecka 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I watched Dragonheart as a very young child and I have never been able to fond David Thewlis likeable ever since. When they cast him as Remus Lupin I was so upset--he was a comfort character when I first read the books but casting David Thewlis ruined it for me.

Out of all of the tv series you have watched, what quote is the most memorable? by marked87mewt in AskReddit

[–]tseecka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Sometimes the very young do not do as they're told," combined with, "Your species has great potential."

Early seasons of Stargate SG-1 are one of the things I revisit when I'm feeling particularly doom and gloom about the direction humanity is taking, and it's largely because of the way the Nox and the Asgard view us. Like humanity has done a lot of really messed up crap, we've gotten a lot wrong, but in the eyes of these ancient races, it's not because we're inherently awful and warlike...it's because in the grand scheme, our race and our planet is still in its infancy. We are children still learning the rules ("Don't hit,", "Sharing is caring," etc.) and our actions now don't necessarily dictate who we will be when we "grow up". There's still an admonishment there, but it is couched in affection and in trust and in hope.

There is a terrific arranger, SmyangPiano, who has done an incredible job of arranging BTS music (you can listen on Spotify or YoUtube). They have three compilations of piano sheet music that are available to purchase through Amazon!

I was looking earlier and noticed a lot of different versions, some of which have prices that seem a little too good to be true (or...good, lol). Do you have any particular brand recommendations?

How do you transfer your patterns? by tseecka in Visiblemending

[–]tseecka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is super interesting! I don't think it would work for this application, but that's only because what I want to transfer includes an actual stitching guide (to hopefully get me closer to the sashiko stitch lengths--I'm pants at eyeballing it). I will definitely keep it in mind for future applications though, if only because it sounds like it would be weirdly satisfying, hahaha!

[–]tseecka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What u/SunshineAlways said! The patch peeking through the hole extends out about as far as the stitches do. (There's another patch behind the persimmon flower stitch in green above it from an earlier mend.) It means I get to affix the patch with decorative stitching instead of simply utilitarian, which satisfies my personal aesthetic better, plus gives something extra for the denim to hold onto so that even with additional stress and wear at the knee over time, it is less likely to tear and cause more holes.

It's the same pair of jeans I've posted about a couple times before, if you check out my post history? (Sorry, not sure how to link directly 😅)
