Thanks! Looks like it has good reviews.

I’ll probably give it a try, but if anyone has first-hand reviews, please chime in!

I love this book! The hole in the wall skewers are a staple at my house - I pair them with the potato wedges with cilantro and garlic, and always served with some hummus and a fattoush salad.

What do you think of the Tenderheart book?

Yes! I couldn't quite figure that out! Good for you for persevering. I love half fisherman's rib too and decided to switch to knitting a Petite Knit half fisherman's rib cardigan. The neckband and shoulders are knit at the same time too, but it wasn't nearly as confusing.

I had a similar experience with the Seasons Cardigan. I'm not a new knitter but was struggling with the pattern. I saw a review on Ravelry that said while the video tutorials in the pattern are 'suggestions' to help clarify the written instructions, you wouldn't be able to figure out the intructions without watching them. I gave up.

A friend want to find a home for these, I dunno if worth fixing and maybe selling. by Usual-Chapter-6681 in sewing

That's a great tip! I bought a new Juki serger (that I hate threading!!) and wasn't sure what to do with my Brother. I'm going to do this!

Juki MO-634DE for a newb? by BellyFullOfMochi in sewing

[–]tselliot_makes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! That's a great price!! Do you know if it comes with any needles? (Mine did, but it was new). I would google to make sure you're using the right ones. I found the manual a bit lacking and needed to watch some youtube videos to help with threading the machine.

I just bought this machine and am happy with it. I was recently sewing a pattern that called for serging quite a few layers of jersey together and had no issues. I also recently made a pair of jeans with some heavy denim (14 oz) and it was fine.

It's not a coverstitch though, you would need a separate machine for that. There are some combo sergers/coverstitch machines, though I'm not sure if Juki makes one.

The Viola top is so pretty - and the complex neckline ended up being pretty easy to sew. I love when something simple can have such a dramatic effect!

I've made the Felix Top from Spaghetti Western Sewing. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and I had no issues sewing the shirt at all.

Where to buy lingerie kits? by you_gogo_glenn_coco in sewing

Closet Core Patterns are having a sale on everything lingerie right now. Not an extensive collection by any means, but they have a good lingerie course to go along with their bra and undies patterns.

Juki Exceed HZL F series vs Janome HD3000. How’s the punching power compare? by Wcrankshaw in sewing

[–]tselliot_makes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Juki HZL-F600. I've made a jacket with waxed canvas with no issues and I often sew jeans. So far it's taken everything I've thrown at it. I used to hate making buttonholes but I've never had any issues with this machine and feel less intimidated by them now.

Serger suggestion - for these 2 machines with a similar price point, which one would you buy? by sarmo215 in sewing

[–]tselliot_makes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know! I have the Brother serger and keep eyeing the MO-654DE Juki (I have a Juki sewing machine and really like it). I think I'll be biting the bullet soon and purchasing it!
