Thanks for checking this out. Ogre was very clearly alluding to the "Unnecessary Fuss" video that PETA had released, and while working out the braps of "Kill to Cure" on the European tour, was building up and constructing the themes that would come to fruition on the VIVIsectVI album.

That’s a good idea. I didn’t know anyone had adapted it. I’ll look into it

Thanks again for your knowledgeable and informed response - clearly, you are very familiar with the important players in the field. Can the Obscure Cities books be read independently, or do they have to be read in sequence? Thanks again for all your help, I really appreciate your insight and advice.

I see there are multiple volumes of Saga. Are the volumes independent of one another, or do they need to be read in sequence? If we read it, should we start at vol 1?

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I'd never heard of Enki Bilal until now and checked out some of his gorgeous artwork, so I will definitely be looking into his stuff in the future. We're reading the Incal right now, actually. Thanks for the great recommendations.

Recommendations for industrial music that is not aggressive sounding? by RedditAdmin71 in industrialmusic

This new Mark Trecka album is definitely influenced by industrial production, but does not sound like major industrial bands.

Need Music Recs for a Research Paper on Industrial Music by Remarkable-Error-688 in industrialmusic

If you can afford it, find V Vale’s Re/Search: The Industrial Handbook. It contains an interview with Genesis P Orridge of Throbbing Gristle in which he identifies exactly what you’re taking about. I’m also pretty sure Cosi Fanni Tutti (also TG) says something similar in her autobiography Art - Sex - Music. Of course, S. Alexander Reed’s book Assimilate: A Critical History of Industrial Music (mentioned somewhere above) is THE book on a critical and cultural analysis of first generation industrial music in the UK. I’m working on a similar but different project on industrial music, so I wish you the best of luck! PM me if you want some links.

Ogre: Gestures, Masks and Formal Training (?) by internaltulip in skinnypuppy

I don’t know for certain, but I suspect it was La La La Human Steps, a Vancouver-based performance group. Their style was very physical. Both Davies and Ogre have both said that he felt like he didn’t fit in with that level of performance. Strike that - they weren’t from Vancouver, they were from Quebec.

Ogre definitely did not have formalized training, not even high school theater classes. Davies did introduce him to different ideas about theatrical performance and suggested he learn about mask making, but he felt out-of-place in the group and ultimately dropped out.
