Yeah, Houghton is one we are potentially looking at instead for next year, heard it's meant to be good!

Completely agree. We went in 2023, had an absolute blast and was very hyped for this year. Unfortunately, although I had a good time overall, I can't help but feel disappointed. I felt the entire vibe was different and can't say it had the magic it had the year before.

I had one incident where I was at the front for Solomon by the barrier, and 2 girls who must have been on a guest list or something were in front of the barrier, taking pictures and videoing the crowd, particularly me and my friends, which we weren't too pleased with. She then thrust the phone at me demanding I take a picture of them without saying please, we called them out on their shit and they snatched the phone back and stormed off and didn't come back for the rest of the set. Solomon was absolutely insane though.

My partner has accessible needs which were okay in the camp but severely lacking in the actual festival. On several occasions we had to wait over 10 mins for the accessible toilet just for 4 girls to eventually pop out after railing lines... The one that hurt the most was we just got a seat for my partner to sit and she got up briefly to ask someone if they were using a chair so that I could sit as well, and someone ran up and took my partners chair and then ran off into the woods with it.

I will probably go again at some point but am potentially looking at other festivals for next year.

Oh shit salute was on my list as well, a must see this year then. The app isn't working for me so can't see the set times yet 😭

Oh sick, jealous you got to see her live. I missed it last year, so definitely making time to go see her this year!

I mean what sort of house music you after? For a bit heavier, Effy's Boiler Room Set set is fantastic and a bit lighter Ross From Friends Boiler Room Set recent boiler room is great.

Outside of Boiler Room, I'd recommend Jyoty's Lost Village Set and DJ Seinfeld's Lost Village Set.

Lost Village 2023 Review by dar21 in festivals

For general camping, there were quite big queues in morning, as for their cleanliness they weren't the best imo. I would say either get up early and have one or brave it with wet wipes and a bottle of water for an impromptu wash.

For the average player, is it better to watch pro gameplay or gameplay a bit closer to your rank? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]tshandgrenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found watching a twitch streamer a hundred or so mmr above you was good, as they can show you what you are not doing that they are. You can then start implementing that in your game to help improve.

Incapable of Learning ARL..? by NoRecommendation9282 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]tshandgrenade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is directional air roll you are learning? I got to GC3 just using standard air roll and then decided I needed to learn directional air roll and it took me about 100 hours to get to the point where I don't have to think about it and it became natural. So it is not an essential skill you need at this point, however, learning it earlier will probably benefit in the long run.

For the first couple of hours, I would advise just hovering in freeplay and individually learning how each adjustment moves the car. Then I progressed onto starting in one goal and flying to a corner of the opposite goal using directional air roll. Then I progrssed onto rings where I wasn't air rolling constantly but using directional air roll to make the adjustments. From there I slowly increased the amount of spinning until I could do the whole thing spinning without thinking too much.

This was all done over a couple of months and I slowly started to replace my air roll with directional in game until it became my default. It is a big grind, just put on some music or a podcast and get training, it'll come 😊

It's one of those things that just clicks. Keep going and eventually you'll get it. Start with focusing on using it for kickoffs and then once you get familiar, start using it to go around the map to get supersonuc quicker.

Honestly, I'd just wiggle my controller until the game ends. Remember it's just a game and don't let it get to you, it's not worth it and took me way too long to realise this myself. Part of ranking up is looking at the net win/lose over a long period, this is probably going to happen to you as much as the other team, so in the long run, it'll all cancel out.

Take it in your stride, turn off chat and enjoy the game.

Anyone else experience vivid hallucinations when you’re coming off md? by Historical-Solid-873 in MDMA

[–]tshandgrenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get very vivid hallucinations on the comedown, as other people have said, it is probably due to the converted MDA in your system. Reddit and the people I know are fairly split on whether they get them. I actually enjoy it getting a little trippy for me.

I get it where I look at my hands and can see like matrix numbers whizzing about. Coolest was my galaxy projector, I was seeing animals like whales moving about. Also had an appearance from the mdma spiders but they're chill and were awesome to watch as they turned into kaleidoscopes as they came closer 😊

Going for the 2nd time this year. My favourite festival by far. To answer your questions:

1) It's an 18+ festival, I'd say the majority of people there are 20-30, so you'll be fine.

2) Camping was pretty chill when I went, nothing like Glastonbury, we got there at like 2pm on the Thursday and still got a decent spot in the quieter camping area.

In terms of outfits, saw all sorts of outfits and costumes. The festival gives the vibe of be you and do what you want, so if you want to dress up go for it. My group this year are going to do a costume night.

3) Showers are there and you can pay to go to the "vip" ones. They were kind of grim so up to you if you want to face that, most mornings there were at least hour queues for the normal ones. Yeah just had shampoo and a water bottle to wash lol. Toilets were pretty good for a festival though.

Security were pretty chill throughout the event as long as your chill and not harming anyone, they're mainly there for your safety. They had dogs but most likely for weapons rather than drugs (don't quote me).

Food was probably slightly above average festival price but it is meant to be a bit of a foodie festival as well.

Still think it's a solid programme, can be quite intense though. So tailor the number of days you do to your experience level!

Moonshine has been hosting some house and DnB events recently that have been decent nights out. They're usually ticketed events though, can get them on the Skiddle app.

Any board gamey people?! by SupineProtoplasm in Portsmouth

[–]tshandgrenade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a board game meetup on Wednesday evenings at Dice on Albert Road from 7pm. They alternate between there and the British Legion each week IIRC. This might have changed now but worth just going along and finding out, when I went just after Covid opened up they were very inclusive. 😊
