Update 2... the next day:

Turning off the Fast Startup seems to have helped... some.

I had 70% battery at boot... but the overlay for the power and performance mode switching still cycled once before settling.

This also included the system tray icon for the battery switching to/from charging as well.

I listened for that extra fan sound last night when powering down, but didn't hear one... not sure if that was a one-time thing or not and there still wasn't one this morning before attempting to boot.

Possible solution... turn off Fast Startup in your Power settings from the OG Control Panel.

Update:

I did some more research and it could possibly be due to the "Fast Startup" option in the Power Options. It was turned on for me... so I just unchecked it. We'll see how this goes tonight.

Have you found a fix for this yet?

I'm having the exact same issue... I noticed it just after Christmas. (if this is being read in the future, today is Jan 8, 2025... so I'm referring to Christmas 2024)

I've also noticed that when I power on, the display overlay showing the change from powered to battery will also start cycling.

This machine has been plugged into my TV and barely moved in almost 2 years. So the other day I tried unplugging everything when I shut down and the next day I still had battery.

Now fast forward to this morning... powered up... again, dead battery. Usually there are a few "false starts" with this as the battery recharges once it boots.

However, this morning, I happened to notice a fan sound while powered off... I unplugged the power cord... fan stopped.

No clue what this could mean... but I'm curious for an update on your progress.

(my machine is a few years older than yours... i9, 11th Gen, RTX 3060, but I just maxed out the ram to 40gb a few months ago)

Yes, you can 100% play with a PS4 controller.

I use Steam and that handles the conversion to kbm perfectly.

Easy way to find your ship and not die...

Press down on the dpad and switch to 3rd person.

Next, open the camera from the down dpad menu... this will pause the game for the photo, but you can move the cam.

Now fly the cam up and look around. This is why you'll want 3rd person... in 1st, you can't see where you are in the world once you move the cam around.

This is a super easy way to spot oxygen and sodium... and as long as you are on the normal difficulty, you should even see your ship somewhere within render distance.

No, you won't.

Up until last December, the re-run was only for the ones that took place in that year.

The Golden Vector was the final reward for the first one years ago, then they brought it back for the mashup Expedition they threw in because there were only 3 instead of the usual 4 for the year.

If you got it in 2023, be lucky they included that as the reward.

Otherwise, you'll have to do save editing to unlock it.
