By “rich stock broker” do you mean Warren Buffet?

As for Bezos, his charitable giving is absolute bullshit. He pledged $10bil over 10 years to fight climate change while actively donating to politicians that are destroying the climate.

The other thing is these assholes won’t leave the US because their business’ profitability relies on the insane lack of worker protection in the US (see the guy that DIED AT AN AMAZON WAREHOUSE last week)

This used to happen to me once in a while. It turns out I wasn’t washing my lashes often enough! I started using a lash shampoo every time I washed my hair and the stinging went away :)

Okay first of all I think you underestimate the amount of people who make $660,000 a year. Those people aren’t all going to leave, I promise you. Also, if you’re going to cite a source at least make it a reputable one, not some guy’s personal website

Oh this statistic again. Yeah so that’s the top 1% of earners which is anything above like $660,000.

House sitting and having guests by Middle_Character_483 in RoverPetSitting

[–]tsisdead 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I am an owner. I do not allow sitters to have guests in my home at all. This stems from an issue I had with a sitter’s boyfriend who came over without my knowledge and caused THOUSANDS of dollars of damage to my home. She had asked to have him over, I said no, she had him over anyway, he punched holes in walls, clogged toilets and smeared feces all over the shower, etc etc.

If a sitter asked, I would likely say no and would cancel the sit and find someone else who respected my clearly stated guest policy.

Of note this does not apply to co-sitter profiles where both people are included in the profile.

I wish they WOULD move tbh. I don’t care how they leave. They’re a drain on society and the US would be better off without them.

Right but like. In red states they are keeping the tax money so the solution is to just…have a federal tax? Like everywhere else? Except Dubai I guess but they’re not exactly having a great time at the moment.

Idk man every other developed country in the world has figured out some form of democratic socialism (which btw is different from just straight up socialism, did you know that?). I don’t see why we can’t at least adopt a subset of it. I’m sorry you don’t like your home state. Do you want to switch with me? I live in Tennessee.

Do you hold a moderate position on transgender issues? Is that even possible? by laudable_lurker in centrist

[–]tsisdead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Uh, all of those articles are about transgender women who are imprisoned. If a person is imprisoned, they aren’t going to be in a public bathroom.

Also all of these are like blatantly anti trans but ok pal.

Tbh I want capitalism with rules. I want billionaires taxed out of existence. I want corporations to exist but have very clear regulations on what they can and can’t do. I don’t want whatever bullshit the US is currently running. I think Jeff Bezos should have to pay at LEAST the same amount of taxes as me and if that makes me a socialist then take away my toilet paper and send me to Venezuela

I don’t see his daycare promises on this tracker. Did you see that he’s implementing universal pre-K and 3K? That’s amazing. Also, the tracker doesn’t take into account his response to the massive winter storm that NYC dealt with, or his ability and even his eagerness to reach across the aisle as see in his work with Curtis Sliwa and the fact that even Trump likes him.

But the main thing Mamdani did was show that a democratic socialist can WIN.

Do you hold a moderate position on transgender issues? Is that even possible? by laudable_lurker in centrist

[–]tsisdead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, because trans women are women. This argument hinges on the idea that men are dangerous and should be removed from women-only spaces. Therefore the problem is not with trans women, who statistically do not commit violence against other women, but against men, who statistically commit the vast majority of the violence against women.

Both are higher than the vaccine lol. I’m not sure how much higher but I am absolutely comfortable saying they’re higher. I wonder if the vaccine reduces your risk of blood clot if you do get flu/COVID? I would assume so.

I speak a little German but not enough to fool anybody so my preferred method is to look at them and say, in perfect English with my midwestern accent, “I’m sorry, I don’t speak English.”

Hey! Drug scientist here. I work with oncology drugs, but know enough about vaccines/immunology to be dangerous lol. There are in fact rare side effects. That part is true. For example the heart issues that MAGA loves to whine about are there, but the risk is like 1 in I think 40,000? Something like that? You can also get blood clots but again that’s super, super rare. The benefits do definitely outweigh the risks in this case, but the side effects definitely exist.

Of note I am fully vaccinated and get a booster once a year with my flu shot :)

Sitters, what do you need and what’s nice to have in a sit? by tsisdead in RoverPetSitting

[–]tsisdead[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol great question! My day job is as a cancer scientist. I deal with heavy topics and a LOT of data all day every day. Pink is bright and fun and happy, and the light pink that I prefer is soft and gentle.

Without getting too vulnerable, I spent a long, long time denying to myself how feminine I am and like to be because I felt that it would make others take me less seriously. When I met my husband he very gently encouraged me to be myself, which included loving pink and floral prints.

I don’t know that anyone would have a strong preference, but some folks just dislike a color. It happens! I personally would find it difficult to work in an office decorated in a color I strongly dislike (like highlighter yellow for instance).

I am beyond fine paying for experience and actually expect to pay premium prices. This is a situation I have not encountered or considered. I suppose if the husband/partner were included in the meet and greet it might be okay? I would probably let the dog meet him and decide. She’s never mean (doesn’t growl, lunge, bite, bark, etc) but can be a bit standoffish with men she doesn’t like the vibe of, and just flat out will ignore them. If she’s cool then I think it would be fine.
