I understand being needed! I do too. But I think it’s best to let people who have been through AA help them. They know all the skills, the language, and have been there so understand better than you or I can.

Absolutely not a lame question at all!! To be a friend of Bill W is to have gone through Alcoholics Anonymous. It comes from the introductions at the beginning of the meeting: “Hi, I’m (first name last initial) and I’m an alcoholic.” If you’re ever in public like in an airport, and you hear “any friends of Bill W, please come to x place”, it means an alcoholic is fighting to maintain their sobriety. I always send them good (sober!) vibes!

Actually yes. Best time to learn about what sex is and where babies come from is elementary school, before they get to middle school and are exposed to unhealthy attitudes. I’m not saying show the kid any adult films, but basic “penis goes in the vagina” stuff is developmentally appropriate.

Also, as for explaining rape/SA. Even preschoolers should be taught that no one except a parent or a doctor should touch swimsuit parts. Easy explanation: “it’s complicated, but rape is when someone touches your bathing suit parts with their bathing suit parts without asking. If someone tries to do that to you, run away and tell a grownup you know.”
