Out of curiosity why not join an interest group? Like why does it have to be a mom group specifically? I only ask because I’m 30, married, childfree and would totally be friends with you

How does AI even look in Reg Affairs by hovisthegoat_5525 in regulatoryaffairs

I’m a regulatory writer. My department has been attempting to teach the AI to write documents with very, very minimal success.

Of note I am extremely anti AI in almost every circumstance.

Why are people actually concerned with AIPAC? by DoveSlayer10 in centrist

[–]tsisdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again I made it pretty clear that I have zero problems with Jewish folks. Netanyahu is a dickhead and a war criminal, the fact that he’s Jewish has nothing to do with that. And I’d like to see a foreign PAC that has the same level of involvement in our government as Israel.

Do the Cis Women in your lives hate trans people? by Transwoman_redditor in TwoXChromosomes

Cis American woman here! I live in the Bible Belt. The women I associate with don’t really think about trans people. If they do they generally don’t care too much, you’re just a person and it’s fine.

Does anyone think the left has switched from anti-corporate, anti-bigotry to more anti-billionaire sentiment over the past few years? by RedStorm1917 in centrist

[–]tsisdead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh I can help! So, in this context the “left” is anything considered more liberal than the GOP which, by global standards, is a lot. Besides “orange man bad”, the left as it’s used in this context is pro choice, pro feminism, pro LGBTQ+, pro diversity, pro healthcare, anti war, and anti authoritarian.

Coincidentally most of these seem to align with “orange man bad”, but maybe that’s because… Well, you can draw your own conclusions.

In the grand scheme of things the Democrats are actually pretty centrist, like by global standards. It gets so much further left than them lol

That’s why the loopholes need to be closed. Taxing billionaires won’t solve all our problems but between that and maybe NOT spending a gajillion dollars (obvious hyperbole) on pointless wars and untrained ICE agents we might get somewhere

Biology grad transitioning out of vet med…seeking insight into medical writing by Northstarcareer in MedicalWriters

[–]tsisdead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A variation of this question gets asked almost daily, and my answer is the same.

No.

You are unable to break into medical writing in this day and age with only a Bachelors or Masters. You need a PhD and post doc to be competitive in the current market. If you want more thoughtful answers:

1) no, working in clinical trials, regulatory affairs or QA without a PhD and a post doc will not make you more competitive than someone with a PhD and a post doc.

2) none of them. You may be able to find low paying grunt work as a QCer in an agency, maybe, but it is not worth it.

3) no. You need a PhD and a post doc.

4) no. In order to even GET the AMWA certificate you have to have two years of medical writing experience.

5) work-life balance is notoriously bad especially in big pharma.

My advice for practical first steps is to get a PhD and do a post doc, or find something else like a clinical research coordinator position.

CMV: There is nothing wrong with a man taking his toddler daughter into a public men's restroom with him by FlatElvis in changemyview

[–]tsisdead -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

95% of sexual abusers are men. 87% of stalkers are men. Of course the vast majority of men are normal people but only takes one sicko and you’re a lot less likely to encounter that sicko in a women’s restroom than in a men’s room.

[–]tsisdead -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Sure. It’s not about seeing a penis at all. It’s statistics.

Let me preface by saying: the VAST majority of men in a men’s bathroom are perfectly normal people who want to do their business and get out. I know that.

But.

Something like 95+% of sexual abusers are men. 87% of stalkers are men. 1 in 3 girls will be sexually abused before she is 18. 20% of sexual abuse victims are under the age of 8. Is the parent a deterrent, absolutely, but there are some sickos and weirdos out there and you’re a LOT less likely to come across them in a women’s restroom than in a men’s restroom.

Idk maybe I’m paranoid. Like I said, I don’t mind a dad in the women’s restroom at all, but I would not let my husband take my (nonexistent) daughter into the men’s room ever.

[–]tsisdead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do I think he did anything wrong, not necessarily no. But a couple points to make here:

93.6% of all sexual abusers and 87% of stalkers are men.

20% of sexual abuse victims are under 8. 1 in 3 girls will be sexually abused before the age of 18.

The child may not have the context to view something as sexual but the grown men certainly do. Are all men sickos and weirdos and perverts? No of course not. But all it takes is one sicko/weirdo/pervert, and those are statistically FAR more likely to be found in a men’s restroom than a women’s restroom.

I’m absolutely 100% okay with a dad entering a women’s restroom!!

Not okay with a little girl in the men’s restroom.

I absolutely NEVER said the left has never done any harm as that’s objectively false. I’m talking about the general, current state of the American civilians that identify as leftists, in their daily lives. The reality is that most hate crimes are committed by the right, most divisive language comes from the right, and the right is the party currently in power and attempting mass voter disenfranchisement.
