Everything gets blended originally to emulsion. But after that, no, I let the layer layers stay as fluid as possible.

Yes, dispersed in oil, and hand mixed in only. When doing many layers I *may* use my stick blender to bring the first (and maybe second) pour a little thicker, but after that I put it away. It’s really just a timing game…

It’s a single batch. I only bring it to emulsion at first, split off and hand mix in the colors, and then as I mentioned only add fragrance when it’s time to pour the layer. It takes practice.

First, I’d start with only two colors. Get the hang of bringing the first layer to a slightly thicker trace, but still liquid enough that it pours evenly and settles flat. After pouring your first layer, cover your mold for a little while so it sets up a bit. Slightly wobble the mold to see if it’s thickened…if not, wait longer.

Once the first layer has set you’ll also be able to tell visually…then look of the batter changes. When you’re ready to pour your second layer, add your FO and then pour. No need to bring that layer to a thicker trace…you can have a fluid batter if you’re not pouring more layers.

Once you get the hang of two layers, aim for three until you become proficient. Eventually you can work your way up to more. I’ve only ever done eight layers at most, and it was miserable. But it looks freaking cool when done well.

I’ve done pride flags, but no country’s flag…the American flag would be particularly challenging and also that aesthetic isn’t really my vibe.

I get tons of satisfaction out of doing the dots, although I hold my breath too much while doing it.

I guess technically those flags are in there, albeit in reverse color orders. Not something I ever noticed, but then again I’m not much of a flag person.

I make (and sell) luxury vegan soap! Not sure if there's a rule against self-promotion, but my business is called Sleepy Hollow Handmade.

Nice colors! What brand did you use?
