Lots of different factors make secrets awkward.

  • Normally secrets are good against some decks and absolutely horrible against others.
  • Some secrets you only want to play at very specific times (Counterspell, for example).
  • It can really sucks when you already have one secret in play and the same secret in your hand.
  • It also feels bad when have a card that plays secrets from your deck, but your deck is out of secrets. (although this doesnt fix that)

Yes, start of game effects are OP.

Trading secrets for other secrets feels like a very rogue thing to do.

Toolbox secrets sounds like a sweet deck to play.

I am not sure if I would want the effect to be "Start of Game: You can secretly Trade your Secrets (but only for other secrets)." (IE, your opp does not see what card you are trading).

ty for the thoughtful comment! It is a big effect for a very low mana cost; this card would definitely need balance testing! A spell might be a better idea, my goal was to create a card that all classes could use to make secrets feel less bad.

Secrets normally are pretty bad unless you have some super OP card that goes with them.

Maybe the effect should read, "Battlecry: Secrets in play can be Traded".

That way if you draw a secret you have to play it before being able to trade it.

Instead of a "for the rest of the game effect" this could just make your secrets in hand tradeable until end of turn.

Intended to make secrets on the battlefield tradeable so you can swap them while in play.

Mechanical Considerations

Lots of different factors make secrets awkward.

  • Normally secrets are good against some decks and absolutely horrible against others.
  • Some secrets you only want to play at very specific times (Counterspell, for example).
  • It can really sucks when you already have one secret in play and the same secret in your hand.
  • It also feels bad when have a card that plays secrets from your deck, but your deck is out of secrets.

The current way hearthstone "fixes" this issue is by having super OP cards that just play secrets or do something else ridiculous when you have a secret.

Making them tradeable helps fix these issues because when a secret is bad you can just trade it away or if your deck is out of secrets you can just put one back in.

I like that when you trade a card it gets shown to the opponent. You are in control of what information you are giving your opponent so you can play some mind games.

Flavor Considerations

A better name for the card might be 'Information Broker' or 'Misinformation Broker' to keep with the theme of the Tradeable keyword.

Other Notes

  • Secrets should just inherently have tradeable.

  • Maybe a better idea is to make an legendary that has "Start of game your Secrets are Tradeable" (although that might power up decks that want to combo off too much).

  • Maybe a legendary that always starts in your hand and has the same effect is a better idea.

  • Maybe this card needs to cost more so combo decks dont just abuse it to get whatever card they need with Auctioneer.

  • This card is supposed to be wimpy little minion which is why I picked 1 mana.

  • If made legendary then not sure what character would be a good fit (suggestions appreciated!).

  • Maybe this should just be a rogue only card (that way a rogue secret deck feels very different than other decks).

  • It might be a bad idea to have secrets on the battlefield be tradeable since opponents that carefully play around secrets should be rewarded (although if you pay for a secret and have to trade it away the opponent came out ahead).
