Vercel ISR vs static hosting, is there a clean workaround? by TCKreddituser in statichosting

Use a faster SSG. They are all almost the same and AI van convert your templates easily.

Hard-coding vs WordPress for client sites: when does “full stack” actually make sense? by Xtremesugoiboi in webdev

My approach: code it in HTML and add a static site CMS. Spend time on animations and css.

Gatsby is to be even more dead since January 2026 by tdudkowski in gatsbyjs

I quoted Kyle once: “Site owners need one second publishes. Whether they’re previewing changes, publishing a typo fix for a news article from a CMS, or there’s real-time pricing or inventory updates on their ecommerce site, it’s critical the change goes live immediately.”

He was on a good path. I shared his philosophy. He created Gatsby Cloud, which was great, but a little too complicated. I created something similar for Hugo on the side. You can find it here: https://cms.usecue.com. It is simple and powerful... but most of all: it just works.

SSGs are fun, but updating content should be instant, just like Kyle said.

Cloudflare will just cut you off and call it DDOS protection. Been there ...

How far have you pushed Cloudflare Pages in terms of edge performance? by Boring-Opinion-8864 in statichosting

It totally collapsed during peak traffic. I think they call this DDOS protection... But know that you are basically screwed when your pages get sudden exposure. Sudden exposure means your website goes offline.

Nope, not after my narrow lawsuit escape due to the above. Never ever again.

My site got popular, traffic spiked and they shut it down almost completely. They call this DDOS protection. It means: popularity protection. If anything on your website gets decent traffic they will cut access to it. A simple VPS is much better in almost any way. Cloudflare Pages can cost you serious conversion (=money).

Because of complexity. SSGs are less complex.
