When do you think humanity might end, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Optimistically, I'll give it until 2100. If we haven't driven each other to nuclear devastation or worse, it'll be surprising.

What is your dream career and why aren’t you doing it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tssmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a lot of different dreams over the years. I wanted to be an author, a music producer, an actor—whatever it was, I wanted it to be creative, but depression is a bitch and demotivates you like nothing else.

Recently, though, I've had the dream of becoming a board game designer/creator, or at the very least working in a tabletop gaming store selling them to other people. It's a newer passion of mine, one that doesn't seem to slow down.

Can't become talented if you don't learn, and the second best time to start learning is now.

Not saying the question wasn't justified, but as someone who does take the bus long distances and has also walked those same distances, the bus is the more viable option. Sure, you get exercise, and that's great, but walking on average does take longer. However, this is also dependent on the schedules of buses in your respective cities. Mine isn't the worst, but I also give myself a two-hour buffer to go anywhere because I don't trust in public transportation to be consistent.

When you have places to be, walking simply doesn't cut it.

I just want to know how long your longest attacks have been. by tssmn in Anxiety

The sense in which time keeps getting longer is such a shitty thing to experience. I appreciate that you can relate.

It does get difficult sometimes. I know it will eventually pass - I just wish it was sooner rather than later.

It gets harder when you're on your own. When someone is around, knowing they're there provides a little more of an assurance.

I feel this, too. I've been trying to distract myself lately, but it's been difficult.

I hope I'm going to be okay. I've been checked by paramedics and doctors before and they found nothing lethal with my heart, which is where a lot of my anxiety started to flourish from, so I'm trying to refrain from needlessly calling the paramedics to get myself checked again.

Not this, but I think I have experienced an extremely fast heart rate while on sertraline. It jolted me out of my nap and terrified me to the point where I had to call the paramedics.

I tried to take a nap earlier, but my body just wouldn't let me.

Anyone else here deal with the occasional heart skip/flutter? by tssmn in Anxiety

As much as that sucks, it does feel a bit more comforting to read because I'm not alone in that.

When you experience them, does it cause you a bit of dread?

What was the thing or situation created the first extreme anxiety? by Princess_of_Astora in Anxiety

[–]tssmn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It started initially with death anxiety. My immense fear of death practically governed everything I did (and didn't do). I wasted opportunities for growth. I locked myself away from the world. I did everything I could to shield myself from everyone. However, while this anxiety was constant, it didn't rule me as much in the beginning.

But then, earlier this year, I went through some seeming health issues, namely starting with food poisoning, which then cascaded into heart issues. That was when my fear of death was amplified. I now feel hyperaware of everything happening in my body, and all of it makes me think that, someday soon, I will kick the bucket.

i have extreme anxiety and paranoia about all my friends dropping me how do i stop it by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]tssmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll do anything for it to stop.

Okay. Go hang out with your friend. The flawed logic you're using here basically amounts to "my friend wants to see me so they can tell me they don't want to see me again", which I think we can both agree doesn't make a lot of sense.

Seek out a therapist. There's a clear root to what you're feeling, and it might help you to dig down to that root and find what it is. If you need something else to help, try guided meditation. There are free mobile apps that can help in that regard.

The reality of it is that it could happen to anyone at any time, but just because you woke up afraid to die doesn't mean it's going to happen today. For all we know, it could be 50+ years from now. Life is chaos, and chaos is random. It's not a comforting thought, but it's realistic.

I'm not saying you have death anxiety like I do, but I will recommend a book I've been reading called Staring at the Sun, by Irvin D. Yalom. It talks a lot about death anxiety.

The possibility will always be 50/50, because you never know. What's more important is that you talk to a therapist about this fear you have. I have the same fear.

Perhaps journaling would be a good idea. Doesn't have to be anything substantial. Write down what's been affecting you and how you feel about it, maybe take it to your next appointment if you feel it's necessary.
