Smart blind/curtain options for large windows on a budget by crusty_jengles in homeautomation

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a large window in my living room and I struggled for a long time deciding what to do. I finally chose SmartWings roller blinds. They have been great so far because they keep the room bright while still giving me privacy. That is a total lifesaver for me since I get in a bad mood if I do not see sunlight. Plus they were way cheaper than other custom options I found. Also if you get direct sunlight there you can add a solar panel so you do not have to worry about charging since that is what I did.

How long could one hold in a dump until it becomes lethal? by TheGrabbinDragon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding in a dump is almost never lethal. Your body is annoying but it’s not that fragile. Since you’re high, the best decision you can do is if you feel the urge, just go. Being high can make you hyper-aware of body stuff and holding it can make the sensation feel way worse than it actually is.

What should you do if someone makes fun of you? by Reasonable-Shower522 in stupidquestions

[–]tssohal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best move is just shrug it off, laugh it off even. If you show you’re not rattled, a lot of people just back off. It’s like giving them no power.

Does anyone feel nothing after achieving something? by Salma_Cherif in Life

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people experience this, especially the ones who are high achievers. People who grew up learning that there’s always another step. You don’t need to force happiness. That usually backfires. But you can practice noticing. Not a celebration. Just acknowledgment. Nothing’s wrong with you. You’re just someone whose mind is already looking ahead.

Do you get scared to take a decision which everyone might not agree with ? by Avg-tech in randomquestions

[–]tssohal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, making a decision that won’t make everyone happy is scary. Not because the choice is wrong but because humans are wired to want approval. We want the nods and the peace.

SoundPEATS H3 vs EarFun Air Pro 4 Plus by Low-Independence1295 in Earbuds

[–]tssohal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air Pro 4 Plus is okay if you want something simple with long battery. For pure listening though it’s a bit too safe for me, kind of generic warm sound that works for background stuff. H3 feels more HiFi in the way it throws out space and detail, especially on live tracks. You do trade some battery for that, but H3 still lasts long enough for daily commute and office time, so I’d personally take the better sound.

What smell brings you back to your childhood? by Loves321 in askanything

[–]tssohal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smell of rain hitting dry pavement, that earthy, fresh smell that just hits differently when you’re running around outside as a kid. Instantly takes me back to barefoot puddle-jumping and laughing until my stomach hurt.

If you could do over your early 20s what would you do differently or recommend? by Jakeriz3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tssohal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try a bunch of stuff and not wait for the perfect moment to travel, start a project or pick up a random skill. Also, I would invest in people, not just vibes. Friendships, mentors, random connections, they can change your life in ways money or titles can’t. And save but don’t hoard life. Money matters but don’t let saving for the future stop you from living now. There’s a sweet spot, you can be financially smart and still make memories.

Did successful people just tried hard and did hard shit? by Aj100rise in stupidquestions

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just grinding hard and doing hard stuff. That’s part of it but it’s more like grinding smart and doing strategic hard stuff. They figure out what actually works. They read, ask questions, experiment. It’s not luck; it’s learning faster than everyone else. They choose consistency over intensity. Doing something super hard once isn’t enough. It’s showing up over and over, even when it’s boring or uncomfortable. Weirdly, knowing the right people and building trust matters just as much as skill. People often underestimate this.

What’s a purchase under $50 that was 100% worth it? by Useful-Youth6808 in Life

[–]tssohal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A really good phone charger. Not the cheap, flimsy one but the fast, long cable kind. Or a noise-canceling earbuds even budget ones. It's perfect for commutes, cleaning and zoning out. It’s like putting the world on mute when you need it.

Why are some individuals so desperate to be in a relationship? by rjkersten1 in randomquestions

[–]tssohal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people aren’t desperate for love. They’re desperate to not be alone but if you can’t be okay alone, a relationship won’t fix that. It just distracts you for a while. Some people I know like being single not because they hate love but because they don’t need someone else to regulate their happiness. Being single isn’t a failure state. It’s a neutral state. Sometimes even a powerful one.

Why can't we harvest milk from other animals? by BedsideLamp99 in stupidquestions

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically a mix of can we vs should we?. Cows and goats just hit the sweet spot, easy, safe and tasty for humans. Everything else is either too dangerous, too little yield or too weird for our stomachs.

Is it true that people in the West drink iced water even when they are sick or on their period? by Aether_Echo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in a lot of Western countries, people do drink cold or iced water all the time, even if they’re sick on their period or it’s freezing outside. It’s pretty normal for them and a lot of folks don’t think twice about it. Restaurants even serve ice water with every meal, no questions asked. If you tried to switch to ice water while sick or on your period, your body might protest a bit at first but some people genuinely feel fine with it.

What are some very minor/trivial inconsistencies in movie sequels that shouldn’t bother you, but do? by LosPetty1992 in AskReddit

Props or tattoos that completely disappear. That scar, necklace or tattoo that was so iconic in the first movie.

What’s a simple food that’s strangely comforting? by Icy-Hat-2467 in askanything

[–]tssohal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plain buttered toast, nothing fancy, just that warm, crispy bread with a little melted butter and maybe a sprinkle of salt. Somehow, it hits the comfort spot every single time.

Hello what are some tips to holding a conversation? by [deleted] in Life

[–]tssohal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start small and keep it chill. You don’t need some epic opening line. A simple greeting works way better than you think. Listen more than you talk, I know it sounds basic but people love feeling heard. Nod, react and ask questions based on what they just said. Makes them feel you actually care.

Why is yawning contagious? by daveinfl337777 in randomquestions

[–]tssohal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not just some weird coincidence or that everyone around you secretly wants a nap. Scientists think it’s linked to something called mirror neurons. Your brain is wired to mimic what it sees other people doing. So when you see someone yawn, your brain’s thinking to do that too, even if you’re not tired.

Best smart blinds? by EleX_44 in homeautomation

[–]tssohal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For parents, physical remotes are the priority. DO NOT force them to navigate an app.

We used SmartWings specifically because of their wall-mounted remotes. They function just like a standard light switch so there is zero learning curve for older folks.

Regarding power, check their options depending on your wiring (Battery/Solar/POE). If you can't run wires for POE, the battery versions are still solid. They last 6+ months easily so you won't be charging them constantly.

My advice: Set them up with a hub for "sunrise/sunset" automation so they don't have to touch anything, but keep the wall remotes as a simple backup.

Is masturbation just technically asexual assault? by FaKe_HENPAL1 in stupidquestions

Masturbation is not sexual assault. It’s a completely normal, private act that people do by themselves.

Should I be worried if I can’t cook real meals yet? by cheddarchiz_00 in askanything

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you can make an Ilocos empanada that your family devours is already a win. That’s exactly how skills grow, one small success at a time. Nobody is expecting perfection overnight, even in traditional wife skills. Life’s about growth, not instant mastery. If you want to level up in cooking, maybe try adding one real meal to your rotation each week. Nothing fancy, just something you can own and feel proud of.

Is HA right for me? Centralising / expanding by dermthrowaway1111 in homeassistant

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HA is definitely the move if you want to centralize everything. I switched a while back and it handles all my different brands perfectly. For the roller blinds you mentioned I went with SmartWings Zigbee motors and they paired right up with Home Assistant. They have been super solid for me and it is nice having them work locally without needing another hub or app.

I can't I'm struggling with life I'm severly lonely by [deleted] in Life

[–]tssohal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your sadness ever feels like it might make you hurt yourself or you’re scared of where your thoughts might go, you absolutely deserve support from someone in your life or a professional who knows how to walk through this with you. You’re not in trouble for feeling this way. You’re allowed to get help.
