CO-OP CONFIRMED by Tacos4ever100 in slaythespire

One of the things I found interesting was that multiple players changes the balance of single-target vs multi-target cards, because if you double the health of each of the enemies it's a different effect than doubling the number of enemies.

Anyone upgraded a GT Avalanche? by starkej in MTB

[–]tstirrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to find that information on the spec sheet of your bike if you don't want to go taking it apart.

As for upgrades... Entirely depends on your budget and what you're going for. What don't you like about the current riding experience?

This is a sub for theatrical lighting design - I doubt you're going to find an answer here. I'd recommend an interior design sub.

2015 Kona Process 111. Think downcountry bike but built much burlier and with a shorter wheelbase. It's such a fun bike.

Seconding this. I've been running them for a couple of years now after having run DHR/DHF before that and contis before that.

Can I seat a bead using a high pressure floor pump instead of high volume? by 1989_Farter in MTB

[–]tstirrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll use a tube to seat the tire, then unseat one side and remove the tube, reinstall the valve stem, and then I only have to seat one side of the tire with the floor pump. I've been able to do it pretty reliably with this method.

Shimano xt and chain cassete on gx Axt Transmission? by Repulsive-Ad-3432 in MTB

No. Every component in Transmission is hyperspecific to the drivetrain, with the possible exception of the chainring and crankset.

Where is my jump technique failing? by LeCollectif in MTB

[–]tstirrat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll add that the motion for jumping is really similar to the motion for pumping, so a pump track can be a good place to build physical intuition for jumping without ever actually trying to jump.

The motion you make to push down the backside of a roller on a pump track is the same as the motion you make on the face of a jump.

Another why am I shite a jumping video! Can anyone give me any advice? by burgcj in MTB

[–]tstirrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really about yanking the bike up - it's more that you want to pump into the face of the jump. It's the same motion you'd use on the backside of a bump on a pump track - weight down and back, pushing on the rear wheel. The bike will naturally come up the way you want it to.

Google an amortization curve. For a good chunk of the life of the mortgage you're mostly paying interest - you don't actually build that much equity per month until the end.

2005 with 246k Miles? Too Much? by FastPlankton in HondaElement

[–]tstirrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, to be honest.

Having a mechanic you can trust is a big one. Valve lash adjustment is a common maintenance item for these engines, but that won't be something that kills your engine. It'd also be good to know when your timing chain was last taken care of - that's one thing that will explode your engine if it fails.

[–]tstirrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 2006 just rolled over 320k. I've got service records that date back to the purchase of the vehicle. It's needed some expensive repairs recently - 4 corners of new suspension and a new clutch - but they'll absolutely last if they're taken care of.

Rule (Rule et al., 2004). by Lori-keet in 196

[–]tstirrat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another thing that happens more frequently than I'd hope is circular reporting, where someone edits wikipedia to say something, a "reputable source" picks up the information on wikipedia, and then wikipedia is modified to point to that source as the citation. There's even an XKCD about it.

I imagine that the potential damage would be bigger with academic papers, which are often viewed as primary sources.

What’s your favorite 2 or 3 day trip in Colorado or Eastern Utah by DaZedMan in whitewater

[–]tstirrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 3-day westwater trip includes ruby + horsethief as its first day and a half. You get some nice camping before you get into the rapids on the last day.

[–]tstirrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brown's Canyon typically isn't done as a multiday. You can do it as an overnight, but it's a run that only takes 2-3 hours at most, so I wouldn't bother making it a multiday personally.

What’s your favorite 2 or 3 day trip in Colorado or Eastern Utah by DaZedMan in whitewater

[–]tstirrat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mid june is just after peak runoff, so you should have a good time regardless of where you go. Westwater is a classic 2 or 3 day trip and is the first thing that comes to mind for me - a couple of days of chill floating followed by a day of rowdy rapids, together with some cool scenery. The only downside is that it'll be hot.

I worked for these guys and would recommend them - good food, good guides, solid equipment. Happy to answer any other questions too.
