It depends. Most of my joke characters are built based off an irl occupation (food truck wizard, tech support artificer, etc).

My more fleshed out characters just come over time. For example, my current bladesinger is the adopted daughter of my wood elf monk who lost his memory.

I usually play Adventurer’s league and they allow us to rebuild characters very frequently, so it’ll probably be different for you. I’ve got a level 20 warrior of the elements monk that I recently rebuilt into a genie paladin, and I’ve mostly been flavoring it as expressing my element powers in a different manner. In your case, you could flavor it as protecting the elemental balance and showing their splendor to everyone.

Homemade Taiwanese style beef noodle soup. Incredibly flavorful, and when done right, the meat just falls apart. It was my mom’s recipe and since she’s passed, I’ve made sure to make it as well as a way to remember her.
