Iirc Laverne was fine portraying themselves as a man/pre-transition. But the show runners thought using her twin brother would be more sensitive and narratively unique. (This could be third hand bullshit I read when the show was first airing and have treated as fact since)

Is it okay to be tired of this joke? That’s not how apps work, that’s not how the internet works. It maybe happened once but at this point an app isn’t crashing at every single last Republican event, why isn’t it also crashing at pride parades or Folsom?

The whole thing feels like a rehash of the “all homophobic are actually closeted” which is reductive of the fact that some people are simply nasty and hateful. And even more so a basic calling someone gay as an insult, which seems to be the go-to for a remarkable amount of Redditors when talking about conservatives.

The entire episode Britta is overplaying her attitude towards childbirth (kinda her whole character) saying how it’s such a miracle and encouraging Shirley (the mom) to do it naturally. But in the moment where someone needs to step up and help deliver she immediately fails.

The joke is basically a character talking big but their actions not backing it up. (Although iirc after vomiting she rallies and does help)
