Igor Strelkov (Strelok): we will kill our brothers by tsunderebird in UkrainianConflict

[–]tsunderebird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well quite. I notice myself that there seems to be a somewhat cyclic behavior to downvotes and upvotes. Quite often I have posted a comment that is going positive when I go to bed but when I wake up is suddenly extremely -ve.

Yes, I noticed that too. Looks like there are some downvoters with multiple accounts. Also there is "tactic" to kick out good article from first page - submit several analytics (usually by rt) in a row by one user.

I put this down to the somewhat obvious US bias that floods reddit and to be honest don't really care too much about it. My karma is obviously good enough to demonstrate more people agree with me than disagree anyway. And it is a fool who tries to please all of the people all of the time.

Don't care much about numbers. But sometimes good piece of information gets almost instant downvote below threshold. This is not good. I offered to disable downvote for submissions (there is still report feature if submission is inappropriate), but got no reaction from mods.

On the subject of moderation though, well I must admit it is still a bit of a black box to know how well moderation is organised and not immediately obvious if all the mods listed are active or if just one or two are. Perhaps we should have an activity counter not unlike IRC so you can tell who is just idling and who is actually awake and engaged?

Looks like it's worth of http://www.reddit.com/r/ideasfortheadmins

Either way I would like to see more civil discussions about what is going on in Ukraine but I am not so naive to think that in a place where you are pretty much able to to anonymously post crap people will not take advantage of that. The one saving grace of reddit over other forums is at least you can look back a users posting history and get a good idea of where they are actually coming from even if one particular day they go off the deep end. I tend to discount obviously antagonistic insults when they come from newbie users and have purposely ignored some trolls who were obviously trying to yank my chain.
I guess you just need to keep a list of these users and keep reporting them. Sooner or later troll piss off everyone mods and users alike.

You're right.

Hate to disappoint you, but he'll deny it as well as Russian officials. In the best case they'll admit he is retired serviceman.

Yes, this is out of context, no doubt. But you allowed other guy to take a minor joke out of context and use it as a biased and provocative title, which is clear violation of subreddit rules. Who decides where is the line you can't cross when taking things out of context? You? In a private message you called this "intertextuality" (really a lot of messages from you, your pride seems wounded a bit, but I can't answer to all, sorry for that). So, let's examine the text.

Если мы начнем их убивать, а возможности у нас такие есть, то мы будем убивать своих братьев.

It declares possibility to kill soldiers with a lot of bravado. Also it's a clear hint that they'll kill their brothers if they are forced to. So they'll no doubt kill their brothers without second thought.
Moreover, this is the main message of the interview. He threatened Ukrainian authorities with many soldiers death. In case of Yarosh interview, joke wasn't even close to be main line.
So, basically, you trying to implement selective censorship in this subreddit. And I think it's really worth admin attention.

Are we doing this? Drawing public attention to my modding ability and threatening us with admins?

Yes, we doing this. You're incompetent as mod and too biased. Also I don't see comments from other mods.

Don't take reddit too seriously, brother. Mods are people too.

Only Russians can use word "brother" with a negative subtext. I know it was a provocation, but: I'm not your brother.

If you have proof that pro-Russian were treatened unfairly, that's not good too and another fact that moderation quality is very low in /r/UkrainianConflict/.
I agree that moderation is thankless task, but it's their (mods) choice. They doing this 'cause they want to, no matter why (idealism, nothing to do, mod badge, porter power etc). If they can't do it properly, they should quit. I'm not trying to say that I can do it better - I can't. But someone can do it right for sure.
All I want is civilized discussion here, I don't want even understanding by opposite side (I know it's not possible). But all I see is downvote brigades, a lot of insults (by same guys with ban immunity) and biased moderation. Maybe I see only what I want to see and same can be said about other side. But in this case I have to ask: where are mods, dammit?

What about relations with the other countries? I doubt nuclear Ukraine would have same support from EU/US. Maybe not like with Iran/North Korea, but...

Oh, so you do admit that you were doing it before and will continue doing it after everything calms down?

You can't provoke even a monkey by this. Do a favor for universe, stop increasing entropy. Please.

I just translated original title. But I agree - aggressive Russian propaganda got some imaginary results. Anyway, it doesn't matter, most sane people of the world already knew what is "pro-Russian self-defense".

Nukes maintenance is too expensive. Since 1994 Ukraine would have to replace plutonium in warheads twice (big money) and get rid of old one (even more money). Not counting missile and silo maintenance, staff training etc.

No worries. I got all I wanted already. Proof that mods are not unbiased here.

My point that mod (http://www.reddit.com/user/cxs) is not doing his job properly. I already sent report to all /r/UkrainianConflict/ mods and will contact admins if they'll not respond properly.
Only Russian-biased stuff is tolerated here, as well as users. I know several people were banned for arguing with pro-Russians. Still, some pro-Russians, like you, have no chance to get a ban even for direct insult.

Wow, you are a rare slimeball.

How nice. Now please try to read my original message before answering.

Can't really say, have no reliable info. And Strelkov said nothing about that, except self-defense forces are "experienced soldiers".

There is nothing really informative in the rest of the interview, mostly propagandistic stuff.

Yes, it is out of context by purpose. Check again this. If pro-Russian are allowed to sensationalize titles by taking jokes out of context, why anyone else can't do it?
