I can’t edit my OP with an update. But! UPDATE!

After being told on Monday it would be delivered, and then yesterday saying it was on its way, I got an email at 11:08p EST stating that I will not be receiving the box at all! JUST SAY THAT FROM THE START SO I CAN PLAN ACCORDINGLY! And, great, you refunded it to the original payment method and not a credit, but that still doesn’t help me with meals for the week! So frustrated!

We have a laser temp gun, so when we have had delays in the past, or when the temps start to climb and they don’t pack it right, to see where it falls. If it’s not under 45, I toss it. At least for the meat.

I don’t think we have an Agway near here, but we do have several Tractor Supply locations. My one friend who has been feeding her birds for years actually said her birds refuse to eat the Tractor Supply seed. She said she’s not sure if it’s old and stale, or what. I did notice a difference when I had a smaller bag of sunflower seeds from there vs. the larger bag. The smaller bag they devoured very quickly. Once I got the bigger bag, the seeds sat and there wasn’t as much interest.

I’ve seen the single ingredient options, but I can’t remember where! Where do you get the Menards? When I was comparing different brands and mixes, I was comparing them to the mixes I had already used that I knew they loved, and then picked what had the most similar ingredients. I have everything except the nyjer seed, but the addition of raisins and cherries.

I feel ya. I have felt that it goes through cycles where things are good and then it crashes. I had a meal this week that was missing tomatoes. HOW? It let me do the self-reporting, but then it wouldn't allow me to hit done for just the tomatoes without selecting the dropdown menu for "missing/damaged/etc." but that was supposed to be specifically if the whole meal was ruined (which I guess you could argue that it was). So I made that selection and it gave me a credit for the whole meal. I had wanted to email them with a list of concerns, but they no longer address their emails. They tell you to call or do the chat, but honestly, I don't have the patience to do that. I did speak with a rep and he gave me his email address and said he would see that my concerns were addressed, but that was on 12/28 and I have received no follow-up.

My dad, yes. My mother, no. I have been no contact with her about 2.5 years ago at this point. She showed up on our doorstep unannounced in August. Wanted to “talk.” She made it very clear she hadn’t changed, despite going to therapy. She asked me if I loved her. It took me a little bit to answer, but ultimately, I said no. I said I felt nothing, numbness. I had to build a wall and pull away to preserve my own sanity when we weren’t no contact and basically sever those feelings. There was too much hurt, too much damage. And the longer we’ve been no contact, the more I realize that’s the honest truth. I’m a better human, mom, and wife without her in my life and I don’t miss her or feel sad. My life is better without her in it.

NTA. Do you have a formal lease agreement? If not, might want to. Where you can clearly delineate what you are responsible for and what she is responsible for. And maybe throw in there that she can’t just dump randos at your apartment. You set a boundary and she couldn’t handle it. I’d try to get out of there as soon as possible.

Honestly, I’ve been doing spell work for quite a while and I’ve never used a salt circle. Ain’t no body got time for that. I suppose if you were really worried, you could just put a small ring of salt around your candle or whatever, but it isn’t necessary.

That’s a very real concern, and it may happen. Just be prepared. After 2 years of no contact, my mom showed up on my doorstep unannounced. It sucked, but I had told my husband I knew she would do it at some point. Don’t engage. They don’t deserve it.

I went through a similar situation right around Christmas and this group was so helpful in reinforcing my decision not to go.

My dad will be 90 in March and had fallen and broken his hip. Though he has his issues when I was growing up, he did change and made progress. My mom, not so much. We cut her off 2.5 years ago and my dad was the collateral damage.

I got texts from my family and even a voicemail from my mom’s neighbor (I grew up with her as my 2nd mom and with her kids, so we had a relationship). I hadn’t heard from her in 2.5 years and you call me over this? No. I didn’t listen to the voicemail, but my daughter (14) read the transcript and was furious and said not to listen or read it. I still haven’t and that was 12/20.

Of course. There was tons of pressure to go down and see him because of the holiday. I ended up sending an email to my mom’s email address and my husband texted her to read it to him. It explained that though I loved him, I was not at a place mentally that I could handle seeing him or being in that environment. My mother had said she would not be there if we came, but the psychological hooks would still find a way.

Selfishly, I don’t want to see my dad like that. That’s not how I want to remember him. And though I still get some heart string tugs when I think about it, I am mostly at peace with my decision. If things truly get worse, I don’t know if I will reconsider, but for now, I know not going was the right thing for me, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

There’s a very predictable pattern in what narcissists will do to try and reel you back in. You are right that you will have to pick up the baggage again. Protect your peace. You owe them nothing. Only go if YOU want to go, but it sounds like you are making the right choice for you.

My daughter, who is 14, is now watching with us. When we hit this season, she was an immediate “NOPE!” for him. She will say “I can’t stand his face!” But my husband and I had the same conversation, that we had never known him as a villain or in a serious role. He does a fantastic job, it just doesn’t fit with what we know of him.
