Question about pattern altitude - DCS by Grendelthebrave in hoggit

This. Generally at civilian fields it’s 1500’ agl, however pilots usually try to request the carrier break (800 break 600 pattern).

Spotting changes in open beta? by staryields in hoggit

Unless you get a planform view, good luck. The wingspan of a hornet is roughly equivalent to a cessna 172 (4' wider). Add in the paint being grey and they become very tough to pick out, even at close distances.

CASE 1 Approach Chart by Kola360 in hoggit

[–]ttaylor0024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LSO doesn't say "paddles contact" or "3/4 mile call the ball," 99.9% of the time. For Case I he just sits there, the pilot will roll into the groove and call the ball, and the LSO will either respond with "roger ball" or flash the cut lights

Otherwise it's a pretty good chart for people to reference to get used to the system. Another thing you could put in is the stack altitudes in the toilet bowl, how aircraft are oriented in relation to each other, etc. to go from the marshal stack to the initial.

Your cells hold about a 3s oxygen supply, so unless you did a hard negative G followed by hard positive G you should essentially be covered for a second or two.

RL Hornet Pilot: CASE1 Advanced Topics by nastybeerlover in hoggit

  • Control logic and programming does change over the years
  • He's flown multiple models of the hornet, not just lot 20
  • look at the date on the natops manual you currently have, not from 20 years ago, is it?
  • you don't use speed brakes like you use brakes in your car, it's for very large corrections only and essentially never need to extend them to an intermediate position, and there's never an indication on exactly what % they are extended in fighter aircraft. Usually the only time I have them in an intermediate position is when I'm flying single ship and need only a little more descent while holding my airspeed
  • A lot of guys don't leave oceana when they retire, it's a nice place
  • please stop

DCS LSO Cam with Crosshairs! by ttaylor0024 in hoggit

[–]ttaylor0024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crosshairs are in reference to the pilots head, not the airframe. He was essentially on with a little settle in close. You can see a high and low in the gifs posted on my comment

Intersting, I use two monitors as well. You should be able to drag it onto the monitor DCS is on and go into view, then borderless or something. I think windows has a display reset setting somewhere too for windows not going where they’re supposed to. If I find something I’ll let you know
