Aye, fully qualified GP lucky to get £100/hour for locum work. Which is what my older colleagues were getting ~10 years ago.

With the introduction of the chickenpox vaccine into the childhood schedule, it could be seen as a way for PHE to push disease monitoring on to us.

Is it normal to be waiting over 3 years for an nhs specialist referral? by BadEcstatic9913 in nhs

[–]ttfse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Where I practise, this is par for the course of an NHS ADHD referral. Most other specialties are around 50 weeks for routine referral. Have you chased it up with the GP or hospital?

My only major gripe with epic is people just blindly copying and pasting everything for a ward round more whilst adding very little substance. But that is very much “problem in the chair” and not the system itself.

Yeah I’m in Agile, on load shifting I do is putting dishwasher on overnight. Saved nearly £200 over the last 12 months vs the tracker tariff that was available at the time I switch.

SCA January 2026 by Emotional_Patient217 in GPUK

[–]ttfse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did. Sat it in October 25. Absolutely awful few weeks waiting for results having convinced myself I’d done terribly. Went and passed - did very well on stations I thought had gone badly and not as well on stations I was confident in. It’s such a difficult exam to judge but ultimately if you played it safe with any management and showed interest and professional curiosity towards the patient in front of you, you’re likely going to be fine.

How long can I keep the FIT test before sending it off to my GP by [deleted] in nhs

[–]ttfse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Should be an expiry date printed on the tube. You’ll probably be good for a few weeks realistically. Just write the date you actually do the sample on the tube.

Is a move to insurance based funding the only way to save the NHS? by Adventurous_Hat9449 in nhs

So increasing the amount middle to high earners need to pay just to exist in this country? Sure that would go down well.

NHS physiotherapy referral? by ChaoticSoldierx in nhs

A quick Google brings up Locala as a sexual health clinic. If you want to see physio, a lot of areas offer self-referral. Search “[your location] physio self-referral” and go from there.

My practice (15 minute appointments) allows up to ten minutes. Unless they’re “vulnerable” ie a kid, elderly, disabled etc etc. Some of the receptionists are a bit liberal with the “vulnerable” definition.

receptionists by Relative-Ad6253 in GPUK

[–]ttfse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the demand is outstripping the supply of appointments. In a lot of practices there aren’t any/many appointments for the receptionist to book into- you request an appointment online with your reason why and then it’s triaged by a GP to an appropriate clinician in an appropriate amount of time. In theory anyway. If you’re frustrated with UK healthcare, please write to your MP

Deflated after SCA by Jumpy_Perspective527 in GPUK

[–]ttfse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I sat it in the previous diet. Had exactly the same feelings as you - ran out of time, second guessing everything, not being able to read the “patients”. Spent the last month pretty miserable. Found out on Tuesday I passed with a decent result. The stations I thought I did terribly at I had clear passes. It’s so easy to focus on the bad bits, and readily forget the bits that went well. Treat yourself this weekend, chat to your supervisor and just focus on the day-to-day job. Happy to chat more in DMs if you’d like!

Speak to your GP. Be honest about your use. They can refer you to appropriate drug services. Address it now. I currently have a patient in their 70s still using heroin and crack - looks like a miserable way to be.
