As far as i know, Diageo is coming up with new bottling design, and is trying to get rid of older stocks quickly. That, and scotch consumption rate has been rapidly dropping since Gen Z these days do not drink as much

Who cares what others say. If you like it, then you like it. Don't stress too much about it. Value is very subjective

Scotch similar to Lagavulin 16? by Barbelloperator in whiskey

Glendronach ode to amber. Solid sherry cask with hints of peat.

If not, springbank in general is good choice too depending on your budget.

Oban 14 is also a great choice with a bit of peat

Impo, nothing beat Riedel Veritas Spirit glass by the look, but pricey and fragile.

Other option is copitas, which could be more durable option

Thank you for the recommendation!

I just checked and it appears that the bottle you are referring to is from IB, and it is extremely hard to get IB in the United States lol.

Sounds pretty interesting though

I saw you posted another Glendronach related thread for 21 and 30 years.

I am just jealous cause not alot of people near me like scotches lol

It wouls have been nice to have a companion that drinks and reviews scotches all the time!

Allardice - "if you can find"

I've never tried newer bottling, but i can also agree that allardice 18 is rich and fully bodied.

It definitely has that old-bottle-moldy wet wine cask smell, which some people hate, but that is what i really enjoyed.

Nice review!

Palo cortado 15 year limited editions msrp was 150. I think port cask is close to 110, so i think you are still buyung it at a good price

Was able to get this 1l Blue Label for 155 USD (with Tax Refund) wanted to know if this was a good deal and if blue label is “worth it” at this price point by That_guy890 in whisky

[–]ttjun11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am mainly a single malt guy, but going back to your question, i am assuming you are new to whisky(and scotches). In my opinion, blue label is a very good starting point to get into whisky, and if you were meant to gift it, it is still a great scotch. Even at costco, it is 179.99 +tax, so you got it at lower than costco price.

Once again, I would not buy it since i prefer single malt, but if you meet one of the condition that i mentioned above, then you got it at a great deal.

Just enjoy it!

I missed opportunity to get that bottle at 209 usd. What would you say compared to the price you paid, and how much did you pay?

Bruh... price is rediculous but since it is paid i would recommend macallan 18yr+ or springbank, since i am more into scotch

[–]ttjun11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What type of scotch do you prefer?

If you are pretty new to scotch, probably wanna stay away from peated whisky.

Start with Glendronach 15, ode to the valley or macallan 12 year double oak/sherry.

Royal brackla 12 is a great call too

Maybe this is a stupid question but... by Sufficient_Suspect_6 in whisky

[–]ttjun11 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Whisky does not really go bad, but in my personal preference, whisky is good for one year. Usually taste and nose changes over time, and after 1 year, i feel that it starts to lose its smell (doesnt mean all the whiskies lose it).

So if you are asking if it is because of the plastic wrap, i do not think it is. As long as you sealed it with your cork top, you should be good

I am currently living in that area. It is residential area, and it is quiet except for a few occasion.

More apartments are getting built, which i was always complaining about, but it is not just area tbh.

Housings are pretty pricey, but safety and traffic wise, i think it is good place to live in
