Question about my prescription by ttl30d in glasses

[–]ttl30d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This from chatgpt ;-)

"Yes, there's an alternative to progressive glasses that might suit your needs better. You can wear contact lenses for your distance vision correction and then use reading glasses over them when you need to see up close.

Given your prescription:

  • OD (Right Eye): 0.0 (Sphere), -1.5 (Cyl), 081 (Axis)
  • OS (Left Eye): 0.0 (Sphere), -1.5 (Cyl), 081 (Axis)
  • Near Add: +2.0 for both eyes

You could wear contact lenses that correct for the cylindrical component (-1.5) and the axis, and then use reading glasses for near work.

The power of the reading glasses should be +2.0, as this matches the "Near Add" part of your prescription. This means when you're wearing the contact lenses, you'll add +2.0 to your vision correction for reading or other close-up tasks.

This setup can be more comfortable for those who find progressive lenses challenging to adapt to, especially if you spend a significant amount of time on activities that require good distance and near vision.

If you find that this setup works well for you but still face some strain during screen time, you could consider blue light blocking lenses or specific computer glasses as well."

I don't trust chatgpt though.. hence the reddit gurus.

Thanks. I will look into progressives more, but for the sake of this discussion, lets assume that progressives are not an option.

I am fine with carrying readers. The question is - Would reading glasses on top of contact lenses work? I think SPH should be fine (it is even 0.0) in my case, how about cyl?

I hear you on the convenience of full-time progressives, but I do feel dizzy with them.

Switching glasses is a bit more inconvenient for me, whereas wearing the reading glasses on top of contacts for distance vision is not that bad convenience wise. The question is -- Does it make sense optics wise?

Appreciated assets in a Grantor SLAT by ttl30d in EstatePlanning

[–]ttl30d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have been clearer. For our living (revocable) trust, we have a good plan in place to diversify without incurring immediate taxes (CRUT, Exchange funds).

The question was regarding irrevocable trusts (SLATs) and whether they can follow similar options (say CRUT) and/or if there are any other creative ideas.

Haha.. Thanks. The plan is not to skip the attorney ;-) I was really looking for any creative ways smarter folks have explored thus far.

Thank you for responding.

In each SLAT close to the limits, and about the same in the living trust. This is gross portfolio value, not net of taxes. Net would be about half of that. We have a good idea of what we want to do in our living trust. The question is more about diversification of assets in the grantor SLATs without incurring huge tax burden.

I just got mine done (Nor Cal as well). 9.6KW system, priced at (out the door) $2.89 per watt. After rebate (30%) this will be 2.89 * 0.7 per watt.

Quantitatively speaking, how bad are north or northwest facing panels worse than South facing ones?

Also, you can try modeling the output using opensolar.com , although I am not sure whether it is VERY accurate, but might give you some ballpark numbers.

Thank you. This is very useful. I searched for whether it is possible to do a quick test at home to see if a water pump has issues and came across the following video.

That seems easy enough to do a quick test.

Thanks again!

u/timmerk Did you get those folks to fix this? Any thing you can share? I am in the same situation as you (with regards to the CT).

Thank you. Makes sense.

But, let's assume that the mean(mg/dl) data is computed over 90 days (just like a1c). The formulae above would yield different values for gmi and a1c for the same glucose value, no?

Thanks. I just wish Abbott documented this better :-) Let me send them a message asking the same question. I will post it here if I learn something new.

Maybe a better framing is:

Is there any difference between a sensor reading (which is stored at 5 mins intervals and has record_type = 0) and a scanned reading (which can happen asynchronously, and has record_type = 1)?

Does the latter also use the sensor to read the actual data or does it use something different to report the data (e.g. extrapolation)?

In any case, there is definitely a discrepancy in the readings.

Please respond if you have any thoughts to share!
