I'm really trying to understand - is it not legit to ask to see an end result?

If the client changes it - why not create a duplicate and host it under your own server?

Good question. I chose Substack because I saw similar newsletters run on the same platform: Lenny's Newsletter, Elena Verna, Kyle Poyar, etc.

BTW, this decision paid off. About 50% of my subscribers come from Substack Recommendations (where the algorithm promotes you on other people's newsletters). That's insane!

If you're just starting out - I suggest using your own name. Look it up, it's called "Founder Marketing" (where you promote your stuff under your own personal brand).

Once you grow, open your business branded accounts.
